I like this shirt. I wear it every day for my workout and I only wash it once a week. I know, gross. But it isn't! Merino wool is so good at keeping the funk away. I can't recommend it higher, and this shirt feels great. The merino is soft. The cut is athletic perfect for working out or hanging out after the gym.

This is my first Icebreaker product, although I've been a fan of merino t-shirts for quite a while now. As compared to Smartwool, the shirt seems a bit more durable and probably less prone to damage in the washing machine. I am 5'11 150lbs and the medium fits me nicely. As you would expect with a merino product, it passes the smell test, even after soaking up sweat for hours.

My only complaint is that it slightly short. I was worried that it wouldn't stay tucked in after a day of moving around. The most annoying thing about using a shirt as a base layer is when it rides up and lets cold air in. To my surprise it stayed put and didn't ride up. It still feels a little short though. I would have given this 5 stars if it had been 3/4 of an inch longer. Glad i picked it up on SAC for 50% off. It's a nice shirt, but probably not worth full price.

Most people when they first start looking a Icebreaker gear cringe at how expensive it is. When you bought that first synthetic shirt, I am sure that you were wondering then exactly how much better could it be than the cotton shirts you had been wearing. Merino wool is next step up, and Icebreaker is top-of-the-line. Yes, it is worth the price, and once you buy one piece of merino gear you will soon find out that it will not be your last!

This is my favorite t-shirt, period. It is softer than your favorite cotton shirt, yet wicks better than your favorite synthetic. Better still, it will not stink like either of them when you get back to camp.

People that are fans of Icebreaker were probably nodding their heads and smiling while they read this review. Do yourself a favor and find out what we are smiling about. :)

Not sure how else to describe it. It's my one shirt for running, hiking, backpacking. It makes me smile. Now if only they made a medium/large. The medium seemed just a hair too short and I expected it to shrink a little in the first wash, so I stepped up to the large. The large is almost perfect except it has a bigger neck, and I like the necks to be tight.

I felt I needed to write another review after using these shirts for another year. I still hold to the belief that the tails are too short and often ride up when using a backpack. Again, I forgot to air dry one and turned a Large into a small. And, I still believe the initial shrinkage is more than the stated 5%. That being said, they are nice shirts and they do not hold onto to BO. These have become my go to backpacking shirts for extended trips even though I am continually pulling the tails down to cover my logger back. As for the knew $75 price tag; I believe it is a little obscene for what you get, but that is a personal choice. I did pick two more up off SAC and they are well worth it in the under $40 range for me.

This is second favorite tee. It's only surpassed by my IB Superfine 140. This is definitely more durable than the really thin merino shirts and the cut it a little more relaxed. Just like all of my Icebreaker products this short does a great job of keeping stink down.

I love Merino wool! This t is perfect for just about everything, particularly climbing and weight lifting. The t runs small--normally I wear a medium (5'11, 170ibs), but in this case the large fits perfect. I know it is pricey, so go for it when you have a coupon or loyalty discount.

I just returned from a backpacking trip in Yosemite where I put this shirt to the test. It was basically the only shirt I wore (I did don a long sleeved Paty Cap3 in the cool morning making breakfast a few times). I hiked 4 straight days in this shirt, and sweated so much it has salt stains! There's salt stains all around the back and on the front of the shoulders where my straps came around. After all that you'd think you could smell this shirt from a hundred yards away! That's not the case though, it doesn't smell at all like sweat or BO!

Aside from it killing odor like an angry team of Navy SEALs, this shirt was super comfy too. You really wouldn't know it was wool unless you read the tag. I did notice that the fabric pilled slightly where my shoulder straps were rubbing on it, but nothing too major. This stuff is so awesome I just picked up a long sleeved shirt from IB for skiing!

Sizing note - 6' 175lbs I went with a L for a comfy (not snug) fit.

Sure this item is pricey. But it may be -- literally -- the last and only T you need to buy. If so, it doesn't seem so expensive after all.

Use it as your one and only T when out camping. The particularly incredible feature of wool is, of course: It doesn't stink. Ever. (Well, if it gets wet you smell like sheep. But me, personally, having grown up around animals, I like the smell.)

So, just wear it and wear it. Rinse it in a stream to get the salt crystals out of it, if you need to, put it on, and it'll wear dry in an hour. It might pill a little. If that bothers you, get one of those defuzzer thingies.

Icebreaker is the best of the best in wool garments (with Ibix and Smartwool a not-that-close second). I see Backpacker made it their Editor's Choice this year. I only give this item four stars (instead of the five it probably deserves) because of its hard-to-predict sizing. Some Icebreaker lines look to be made for speed-skaters -- skin tight and aerodynamic. Other lines seem more "normal" in cut. When in doubt, go up a size ... mostly, but not always. As I said, hard to predict.

Wore this as my base with an Icebreaker Bodyfit260 Altitude on top on a three day 24 mile hike. This combo was excellent in regulating body temp. The weather was around 40-50 during our hikes and this setup kept warm enough for a majority of the time. Never felt clamminess and cold chills. Like you'll read over and over about merino wool, it's great at keeping odors at bay. This is no exception.

Great shirt. Breathes/wicks well while also keeping you cool or warm. Not your grandma's itchy wool. No stink here. i'm 6'2" 210lbs with athletic build and wear an xl. Great quality shirt that will last a long time. Worth the money.

I have a gumtree/bark hopper. Since its still not too warm I like to wear my bark inca long sleeve underneath. My folks like it - and so do I.

These t-shirts are great for almost everything. I don't wear them in hot weather, but when it's under, say 70F, I'm in Icebreaker stuff almost daily. This shirt fits pretty slim, but not tight (I'm 6'4", 170 lbs. and wear a large). I use this shirt for mountain biking, hikes, I use it as a base-layer under other wool or fleece stuff, and sometimes I wear it over a long-sleeved base layer. When I tore the shoulder on a juniper mountain biking, I had my tailor stitch it up -well worth it (even though I didn't pay $75 -!!!- for this t-shirt). I'm always watching for a sale. Meanwhile, the Icebreaker stuff I have gotten on sale is holding up to many machine washings (but no tumble drying, of course).

I bought 3 Ice Breaker shirts to replace my Patagonia synthetic shirts to take on a back country hut to hut ski trip. The synthetic shirts are great to work out in but over the years the body odor smells have become trapped in the shirt and no matter what I do I can't get it out. For a smell test, I wore one shirt for 6 days in a row to the gym. I sweat a lot and I thought it would be a good test of the smell resistance that I've heard wool shirts have. the result was that it worked, the shirt did not absorb my sweat smell at all. It was amazing. The SuperFine 200 will be a great shirt in the cold weather but at the in door gym, the shirt was a tad warm.

I got two of these shirts and a few weeks ago and have put them through the wringer. I've been using them as a base layer while I go running in the rain and they have done / felt great. They air dry in about 30 - 40 min after I have washed them. But honestly, after a week strait of doing 3 - 6 mile runs in them they didn't smell at all. They are expensive, but well worth it in my opinion. Also, I'm 6'1" 185lbs, lanky, and the XL is just right on me. Fits like a normal T-Shirt.

A buddy and I always try to take some new gear on backpacking trips to see how it works. I wore this shirt continuously for 4 days and 3 nights (80 degrees, 26miles, & 50lbs) without washing it to see how it would do. The answer is AMAZING! It had some mild odor to it---but I kept it on for the car ride home even though I had planned to change. I'd say it smelled similar or better than a synthetic after 2 hours of hiking, or a round of golf.
My buddy accidentally dropped his in the rapids at dusk trying to wash it, and we found it plastered to a rock downstream the next morning---no tears, stretches or anything. Smelled a little like algae, but dried it out and it was ready for more.
The bottom line----if you are like me and stink up a synthetic in about 2 hours you will ABSOLUTELY LOVE this product----and find the $ well spent. If quick drying is your main concern---the synthetics are faster. So far I think the IB shirts are more durable also--They seem to pill a little bit in friction areas from the pack, but this is mild and to this point barely noticeable. Nothing like the pulls you get with the synthetics.
The best review is this---I started with one for backpacking, and bought several more for casual use b/c they fit/hang/feel nicely.

This is the last Icebreaker product I will ever buy. First, the tails are never made long enough to stay tucked in during layering – I have if anything a small torso. Second, there is a major shrinkage issue. Labeling claims 5% but my shirts shrunk much more than the five under recommended care. If you ever make the unfortunate mistake of putting your $60 tee in the dryer, kiss it goodbye. I accidentally put one in on low heat and the large turned into a small immediately. I like the feel of Icebreaker wool better but Smartwool is by far a more thought out product – dryer safe, body proportionate. All my wool tees will be Smartwool from this day forward.

I bought this shirt mainly for hiking and working out. The merino doesnt dry as fast as some of the other tech shirts I have, but unlike the other shirts, you could wear the merino for a week straight and it wouldnt stink. The stitching and the material are quality. I am 5 8 150 lbs and I ordered the large. It fits great. I dont think I would pay full price for this shirt but if you can get it on sale, its worth it.

I've loved Icebreaker goods over the years and even my 2007 Hopper was a pleasure to wear in the summertime heat of the Carribean as well as the (relative) chill of the San Francisco winters. But by 2007, the quality of China-produced Icebreaker goods no longer justifies a premium price to me. The zippers, stitching, and general quality of fabric has slipped greatly. That 2007 piece has a hole in it after probably only a couple dozen wearings (and all washing done in a gentle front-loader).

A good value at 30-50% off. Marginal at 20% off.

I'm not paying full price any more.

My girlfriend is definitely sick of hearing the angels sing every time I pull this shirt out of my drawer. The most comfortable shirt I've ever owned. Paid full price (at the time around $70) and didn't regret it even for a second. I am a huge proponent of Merino wool and own several different Merino wool products. Icebreaker Merino wool is definitely the best quality. Very stylish too. So quit complaining about how expensive Icebreaker costs and see for yourself.

I've found this to be a very nice shirt, but not worth the premium over the other two wicking tshirts I bought here recently: the Mountain Hardware Wicked Tech T-shirt and the North Face VaporWick Ruckus T-shirt. You can buy two of them for one of these and I think that they dry faster than this t-shirt and are equally comfortable.
