The Icebreaker Men's Sport320 Rock Zip Long-Sleeve Shirt is a merino mid-layer ideal for skiing or snowboarding. Wear the regular-fit Rock Zip for days on end without a hint of that scented ripeness we all know too well. Thumb loops help keep cold at bay and your sleeves un-rumpled inside your jacket. Merino has some incredible advantages over synthetic fabrics: it keeps its heat-retaining properties when wet, offers expedition-weight warmth at half the bulk, and rivals many synthetics in breathability.
Bottom Line: Expect incredible natural comfort and warmth from the Icebreaker Rock Zip.
I really need a bonus sixth star for this top...and any other Icebreaker piece of art for that matter. Seriously, Smartwool can bite it. Icebreaker designs and produces garments at a higher level than any other specialty wool manufacturer. Care is super easy, and durability is amazing. Base layer or no, this top is cozy and wears great. It's nice enough for the office and technical enough for extreme conditions under a shell. All I can say is they must harvest their wool from a smarter, softer, more durable sheep than anyone else.
I like being right, but I do trust the other reviewers, just to be more confident. It hasn't left my body since I got it, except to be cleaned, but not because it told me so...:)

I have had this in the Maple/Alloy for 2+ years now and I wear it all the time, it still looks good and fits true. I regularly wear it as a sweater/sweatshirt when I am out in the city with a collared shirt underneath, it looks great. But I can also take it to the slopes the next day and wear it as a mid layer in cold weather, and then wear it out that night, it doesn't hold smells. I am 6'3" 185 lbs and the large fits great.
This sweater is soft, warm and very functional. My son wore it on a paddling trip, in the rain, and it kept him very warm even when wet. He wore a techie tee shirt under. Oh yeah, it looks very good on him, too!
Perfect shirt for midlayer skiing in the winter or base/only layer while hiking in the high elevation in summer. Would get perfect 5 stars except it's so expensive. If you like this shirt try the Icebreaker base layers which are amazing.
This shirt is now a staple of my outdoors wardrobe. I've worn this in the mountains of Utah ski touring and hiking in the Adirondacks of NY. In both climates, this shirt kept me warm and dry. It's soft, highly breathable, odor-resistant and very very comfortable. Highly recommended.
