Amazing Shorts While They Last

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

I fell in love with merino wool a few years ago. These shorts are great basic running shorts with all of the advantages of merino wool (no stink, breathable, overall comfort). I would wear nothing but these shorts except for their durability. I have so far put holes in two pairs of these shorts. Maybe it's just my fat thighs (I'm 5'11" 165 lbs so I don't think I'm exactly huge), but I seem to wear holes in the crotch area of these shorts. I don't run a lot either. At most, I run 20 miles per week. I average probably more like 10 miles per week over the course of a year. And I rotate through different pairs of shorts. And these Icebreaker shorts still got a hole in them after 14 months. Unfortunately, Icebreaker's website is pretty clear that any damage after 1 year is probably due to normal wear and tear, and therefore not eligible for their warranty...

I love these shorts, and like I said, I would love to wear them all the time, but they're just too expensive to justify buying a new pair every year. Especially when my $20 Nike shorts still look basically brand new after 3 years of use. Sure, the Nike shorts might stink a little after a run if I don't rinse them out right away and maybe they're not quite as comfy, but I just can't justify the cost for these Icebreaker shorts... I was really hoping they would be more durable than they are, but based on my experience, I don't think I will be purchasing another pair of these shorts...

My search for the perfect running shorts continues...
