The Icebreaker Men's Slalom Crewe Top gives you expedition warmth without all the bulk. Whether you wear it by itself for a run or layer it under your ski clothes, this itch-free top is far softer than conventional wool and won't stink like a synthetic top. Super-soft 260g-merino wool makes the Slalom Crewe part of the Bodyfit line, which Icebreaker touts as the warmest performance underwear in the world. For functionality, elastic thumb loops prevent the sleeves from riding up, and a double-stitched neckline helps this top hold its shape. For style, Icebreaker included stripes along its sleeves and side body seams.

Bottom Line: The midweight Icebreaker Slalom Crewe Top brings you a super-warm layer that looks so good, you won't want to cover it up.

Used it for hikes, winter layering, and even casual wear. Merino is great and the odor controlling properties and temp regulation will make you a believer. Icebreaker style is great and every piece I own is super comfortable.

Will a medium shrink into a small? I'm 5'6 140lbs, I hear that a small should fit me properly but can only get a medium. Can I wash it and shrink it to fit me or will it shrink way too much and be unusable.

my experience with shrinking wool tops like this is that you can stretch them back to original size. i have long arms and slim torso. i tend to buy larger size for longer sleeve. wash and dry to shrink the body. wash again and, while wet, pull the sleeves to make longer while body remains smaller. then going forward wash and hang dry. usually i'll pull sleeves after each washing. another benefit of wearing wool.

I would only try shrinking pieces for minor tweaks or if they get stretched out. It seems like when you try to shrink something say to make it snugger, it ends up just making the body of the shirt shorter--it never seems to shrink the direction you would like.
