Skin200 Legless Pant - Women's

When you put on your midweight bottoms for a day of skiing or hiking, you tend to end up with a lot of material bunched up at the top of your boots. Not only is this extra material annoying to move around, but it also makes you sweat more. The Icebreaker Women's Skin200 Legless Pant is a ¾-length Merino wool pant that's designed specifically for layering with winter boots. Because it only runs to your boottops, you won't have any bunched material to decrease the pant's performance. The Merino wool also holds less odor than synthetic materials, making it an excellent choice for extended backcountry and mountaineering trips. After a week at base camp, these pants will still smell like they did on day one.

Bottom Line: Shorter and better smelling than your long, stinky synthetic pants.

Work it without smelling!

I recently started replacing all my polypro base layers with wool because you can wear them multiple days without washing and never smell bad! These pants rock, just like everything from Icebreaker. The length is perfect with ski or snowboard boots - no material bunched up at your knees. I haven't worn them in super cold conditions yet, but they performed extremely well in spring conditions - keeping warm even when they were sweaty and drying fast when I opened the vents of my shell pants. They are not the least bit itchy, even after a couple washings. I thought it might be a pain that you can't dry them in the dryer but it wasn't a problem because they dried much faster than I expected. I highly recommend these pants for women who play hard and need gear that can keep up.

Like them but.....

Wool as a base layer is the best. And I love Icebreaker stuff. The 3/4 length is just logical. BUT.... these things run big and get bigger as you wear them. I bought a medium because that was all that was left (I usually go with a small although many times medium is fine) and after one day of skiing, I felt I actually needed an x-small!

Woolies Rock!

By:
November 30, 2005

In my experience, nothing beats wool as a first layer for both summer and winter outdoor activities. I am a four-season mountaineer living and playing mostly in Colorado and nearby states. Woolies let me sweat without holding much moisture near my skin and keep me warm when it is cold out. When it is hot, my woolies keep the sun off and breathe like no plastic product can. And now that woolies are being made that don't itch, they can't be beat!

Great lightweight pants

By:

I currently wear these pants with The North Face Insulated ski pants. They are just heavy enough for these insulated pants. The ankle length is nice so they don't bunch up in the boots but they are on the thin side so I don't know how much warmth they would provide if my ski pants weren't insulated. They're very comfortable though and I would highly recommend them.

Shorty

By:

I'm short, so these legless pants still ended up getting tucked into my socks/boots - but still less material than normal. Icebreakers make an incredible product, but if you're short the legless version of their base layer is sort of pointless. As usual though, their wool never smells and never itches. It's definitely worth having a couple pair (and tops, too).

Wool is where it's at, and the 3/4 length is perfect,

I was skeptical of the 3/4 pant at first, just because i've ALWAYS had full length long johns, and i don't think i want to go back now. The question of pant legs in the boots or trying to roll them up and leave them out of the boots is just a non-issue. I used these for the end of winter and all of spring skiing, and they were perfect! I was also skeptical of the waistband because it looks like one of those super tight elastic bands that's only good for creating a good looking sausage, but it's not so, they made it just right. Also (if you need the testimonial) they do not smell bad. I have always used capilene and its stinks so terribly after one use. I ski alot....and i can't afford to buy enough long johns for every day, so having ones i can wear more than once with out washing and without stinking is awesome!

Also, of note, Icebreaker claims these are lightweight and not midweight, and I would tend to agree with that, however I have never found myself to be cold in them yet.
