For all-day powdery assaults on the mountain, the lightweight Icebreaker BodyFit 200 Legless Pant gives you all the insulation you want without all that bunching up under your boot cuffs. The 'legless' design is really just a shorter leg that won't overlap with your socks and cut off your circulation once you tighten your ski or snowboard boots.

  • Merino wool regulates your body temperature (keeps you warm on chilly days and comfortable once you get going) and resists the build-up of odors so there's less laundry during your weekend or vacation
  • Bodyfit 200 provides midweight insulation for winter days on the mountain
  • Close fit hugs your torso for easy layering
  • Flatlock seams and inseam gusset help to prevent chafing and provide easy mobility
  • Elastic waistband secures the legging as you ski hard all day long

Right? Where's the Fly...

Good idea to keep extra material out of your boots cause there's enough going on in there. The 200 weight is great: never too warm or too cold. But there's no fly, which becomes a bigger deal when it's cold and you can't just unzip. Also, I suppose because there is no fly, it's not cut with quite enough room. As a result, I have to pull them up a little bit periodically.

Everything but the fly...

I've used these for snow sports and they've worked out pretty well. I knocked off a star for lacking a fly, they're hang dry unlike that other wool company, and i had to cut out a tag that was so in the wrong place.

Best base layer option I have found

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I own two pairs and alternate them daily during week long ski trips (no need to wash). The legless option means no issues with ski boots on the shins. They fit just below the knee, and my ski socks usually make up the difference. I have never had an issue with warmth. Only issue would be how your ski reacts to wool. These are very fine, but I have one friend who did not like the feel against his skin (hence the reason I now have two pairs). I highly recommend Ice Breaker to all my friends.

Warm and don't clunk

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are great for snowboarding (or skiing if you really must!). They're light and provide mid-weight insulation for cool weather.

Best of all there is really minimal clunk. I've taken these on multiday hut and camp-in-the-snow overnighters and they don't clunk at all.

They dry quickly and I wouldn't recommend putting them in the dryer (they start to disintegrate)
