Description

The Legless Pant is shorter and better smelling than your long, stinky synthetic pants.

When you put on your midweight bottoms for a day of skiing or hiking, you tend to end up with a lot of material bunched up at the top of your boots. Not only is this extra material annoying, but it also makes you sweat more. The Icebreaker Men's BodyFit200 Legless Pant is a ¾-length Merino wool pant that's designed specifically for layering with winter boots. Because it only runs to your boottops, you won't have any bunched material to deal with. The merino wool also holds less odor than synthetic materials, making it an excellent choice for extended backcountry and mountaineering trips. After a week at base camp, these pants will still smell like they did on day one.

Really Nice

I already own full length IB leggings which I love and thought I'd try these for skiing. Great not only for skiing but for just about any other activity where you don't need the insulation of the full length. Really nice quality material, extremely comfortable next to the skin. A suggestion about the sizing though, if you're in-between sizes go with the smaller option for a more athletic fit which I like for highly aerobic activities like running, etc.

These things are fantastic!

Needed a baselayer to go under my Arc'teryx Sabre Pants and these work perfectly. They are the perfect thickness to take the edge off on those really frigid days, but breath so well that even on sunny day's in the backcountry I just open a vent on my legs a little and it is back to perfect comfort! The shorter length is also perfect because it will come down just far enough to put under your ski socks, bu not all the way down into your boots so that you can avoid the annoying feeling of weird layers overlapping around your legs. Don't hesitate to get these if you need a baselayer that will perform on the mountain or in the backcountry!

Nice woolies

These are 100% wool (wool of NZ and designed in NZ, made in China). But because they have no elastane they fit too loosely (I'm 5'6" 130# and got size small) - the butt and thighs are good, but the calves just kind of drape off. I love the length for running or skiing. For the same price I prefer the I/O with 96% wool, 4% elastane and a much more athletic fit.

Great fit, nice non-boot

Fits great and kept me very warm. Not bulky, not too light, perfect. It was great not to have the tights down into the boots. I will definitely buy another pair.

High Quality, But Flawed

The quality of the wool is first rate, however, I found the bottom of the pants constantly rode up from the middle of my calves to the bottom of my hamstrings just above the knee. It's a little aggravating and I could have gotten the same coverage with bike shorts. I should have bought the full length pants.

Love that Icebreaker

Everything they say about it is true. Temperature regulation, no clammy feeling, very soft, no odor after many wears. I wear it as a base layer for skiing in Maine. I wear size 16 pants, and the XL bottoms fit fine. Not too tight or loose. With short legs, I have no gap between bottom of pant and ski boots.

Perfect Fit

Large is a second skin on my 6'2", 34" waist frame....I'm 192 lbs.
I'll have to do some on snow testing to see how my fleece pants and insulated pants work during mid-winter weather.....oh, that's right I'll be in Vail 1/26. Maybe I should take my shell pants? I think I'm going sheep crazy!

adequate for the job

very nice next to the skin. waste band folded over and creased like it was starched. the 3/4 length helps to beat heat buildup.

Hot pants

I really like my new long underwear, I really like the length and the weight. I wear these alone under my ski pants and soft shells when skiing. My only complaint is the waist band is a little too snug and too tall even fortucking other shirts into. I highly recommend these if you want a pair that you don't have to hike up to keep out of your boots.

Warmer than expected

I wore these up Kilimanjaro with just a soft shell pant and was reasonably warm considering the temp (~10F w/ wind chill). They were great for sleeping in as well. It seems like they shrunk in length after washing so that there is a gap between the top of my socks and the underwear, but I didn't notice it while hiking - only during the middle of the night bathroom runs.

I know these are great for skiing, but how about just as a hiking/backpacking baselayer? Cold ankles can mean cold feet. Any advice on this? I like that these are cheaper, lighter, and take up less room than the full legging, but I don't want to detract from the warmth.

Sniff sniff...no smell!

Awesome! Gotta love the merino wool. These guys do a great job keeping your legs warm on moderately cold days. While they do just fine on colder days going with the 260's (mid-weight) is a better idea. Have no complaints except that if you want to use them for something other than skiing e.g. hiking or camping you'll need to wear ski socks or otherwise you'll likely have a gap between your sock and the leg opening. Also I guess the other drawback is that there isn't a fly but that's not a big deal because it's not too difficult to pull them down to let your natural stream flow. The best thing about them is that they're made of merino wool and that means no stink, awesome warmth, great wicking capability, and very cozy! After multiple days of skiing in them (sometimes without showering for those multiple days) they still don't stink! Unreal! I will never go back to a cap or synthetics after using merino wool. I also love the fact that you don't have to worry about any bunching around your knee or having the need to try to stretch them over your boot. Two words for ya: BUY EM'!

Have been looking for a pair of "shortened" LJ's for a while. Now I have to wait for ski season....Bummer! :-)

I'd be running in cold (sub 40) and/or using them for backpacking, for sleeping and/or hiking when it is cooler... But if they are as warm as you say, I might need to drop that to sub 30. :-) I have icebreaker tops in the 200, 260, and 320, and the 200 is fine in the low 40's...

haha. The combo of ice breaker, cloudviel, and shell keep me very warm, but my knees do get cold at times. I think you will really love these pants. They are comfortable, warm even when wet, stink proof and light. I'll never use another base layer again.

Anyone wear these as a running tight, or for hiking/backpacking under a pair of shorts? Looking for a combination on backpacking trips that is lighter and more comfortable than shorts + pants. I'm comparing to Arc'teryx Rho AR Boot-Cut Bottom...

These are as comfortable as they get and super light. I wear as a shorts + Pants combo under a pair of cloudviel run don't walk boxers under my ski pants for very colder conditions (10 to -10). and the comfort is divine. What kind of weather are you be running in?

Responded on

Sean, I wear the Icebreaker full length bottom in this same weight to run in and they are the best! MUCH better to run in than any traditional 'running' tight, and I have tried them all. I'm usually between a medium and large and I ordered a medium and they are perfect.

Love 'em

The length is great for sking/tele. Seemed awful thin, but I've worn them in frigind temps and they were toasty warm.

5 5

Perfect

Perfect length for wearing with ski boots. Warm, comfortable, excellent wicking, and never stinky. A fly would be handy, but it's easy enough to work around.

Most comfortable long underwear ever!

These long underwear are fantastic! Absolutely no itch and with the boot-top, I had zero chaffing around my shins/ankles because of sock/underwear overlap inside my ski boot. I am also really impressed with how thin these are and how warm they keep you. This is the first Icebreaker gear I've purchased but it absolutely won't be my last.

Fantastic

Like just about everything else Icebreaker, these are great. Warm, comfortable and no stink! I've worn them for multiple days of skiing and they don't hold smell like synthetics (like underarmour). I'm also fine in just these under my unlined goretex pants down to about 15 degrees.

You've gotta love merino

These things are some of the most comfy pants that I've ever worn. Light and warm, but breathable and with no stink factor. I'll never buy capilene again. I initially picked these up for skiing (nothing in my boot!) but have used them for everything outside, active, and cold. I wish they had a fly...and then realized that Icebreaker makes one, I just picked up the wrong version. Oh well. On the tag, you can find info in order to look up the sheep that grew your wool. Cool! I'm gonna send him some sheep-food so that I can get a killer shirt next.

"Boot-top"

The idea gave this skier the chills, until I wore the legless pants and vowed to never wear full length pants again, which means the others pants I bought this year are getting altered...
