Love this baselayer

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I have been wearing this a ton since getting it---I wear it as a baselayer under my 1/4 chakra top from icebreaker or just under my sweaters. I have worn it alone as a regular T with black bra but sometimes wear the icebreaker 150 tank in black underneath since it is on the thinner side (i have the black sweetheart). This is comfortably fitted with a nice stretch. Torso is long enough for my long torso which i really think is great--some IB t's in the past haven't been as long in the torso so I'm happy about this. I also like to wear it as a pj top. Strangely enough I didn't think I was going to keep it knowing its more of a underwear type of top but I figured eh, I'll use it. It's been pretty cold so far in Chicago so I appreciate this very thin extra layer under a sweater to keep me warm.

winter necessity

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I wonder if IB has changed the sizing over the years because the M this year feels larger than prior M sizes. Usually I wear a S but wanted a few slightly larger shirts to layer up on top. Two IB longsleeves + fleece = toasty warm in 30F weather.

Sheer, fitted baselayer

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size

Ordered Azalea in XS to fit a 33ish" bust, 24.5" waist, 34.5" hips, so I would say it is true to size based on the IB size chart. Very sheer and fitted: would only wear on its own with a nude bra or a cami underneath. Azalea is a nice vibrant color. Returned because I decided the L/S was more than I needed, may reorder down the road in short sleeve.

Perfect for cool summer nights and more

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I wear this as an outer layer and not a base layer. Accordingly, I went up to the medium so it wouldn't be super clingy. Normally Icebreaker size small in T shirts is what I wear, but the Siren series has a closer fit as it is supposed to be a base layer. I am 5'5", 125 lbs, 34" bust, 29" waist. Washes up great and line dries in a snap. Can't wait to travel with this stuff since it folds up so small!

I'm a 'siren' collector

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I wear the siren camis, short sleeve t's and long sleeve t's in either matching or contrasting combinations, depending on the weather. I love how lightweight they are, so even wearing a long sleeve on a 75 degree day feels okay. Have the long sleeve t's in both gulf and cerise, with matching camis, and the short sleeve t's in hyacinth and azalea. I don't find the gulf or cerise long sleeves too see through, but for work will wear with a cami to counter the low'ish v-neck. The azalea is a gorgeous colour, but since a bra outline is (barely) visible, I wouldn't wear it without a cami underneath for work in a health care setting. However, I'd have no qualms about it out in public. I'm 5'7", 122 lbs, wear a small and the long sleeves t's are not completely body hugging by any means. The newer short sleeve t's (azalea and hyacinth) *are* more body hugging. I also have several icebreaker tops in 200 weight which I consider my winter shirts, and I save them for when the temp is below 50 degrees.

Looking at the Siren top 150 wt.to wear...

Looking at the Siren top 150 wt.to wear as sun protection in Arizona now through summer. Will it be cool enough?

Responded on

Absolutely! Our 150 gm fabric has a SPF of about 55. And because the fibers themselves can breath you will be nice and cool. I have worn long sleeve 150 tops in 85 degree temps while mountain biking and definitely not overheated.

best merino underlayer!

I own this top in cherub, gulf, and black (Note: only black is dark enough not to show undergarments). They're become my go to undershirt for winter. I wear them under sweaters to work. I wear them as my base layer when skiing/hiking. I've even worn them to bed! These shirts are amazingly comfy, never itchy. It will keep you warm but not too hot. What more could you want?! I also have SmartWool's Microweight (150g/m2), but I really prefer the Icebreaker Siren top. When it comes to bottoms, I prefer the SmartWool Microweight.

Cut is different than past years

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I ordered a size medium in cerise, which is a great color. I am 5'7", 130 lbs. I decided to return it because the neckline seems considerable lower than the other two siren tops I have. I can't tolerate feeling like I have to pull it up all the time. Also, I was hoping the fabric would be a bit thicker than the other shirts I have; one of the other two actually has a small hole now in the arm, not near the seam. I haven't worn it that much, so I am surprised the quality is not better. I really like Icebreaker clothing in general but I think I will stick to 200 weight or greater.

Too thin

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Would've liked to keep it - liked the fit and style but found that weight (150gm) to be too thin. Wanted to be able to wear it as a tee. Had to return it. Shame, love Icebreaker.

Responded on

This is our thinnest fabric- the 150 gm weight. The tops lives in our underwear collection and is meant to be very lightweight. You can wear it with a tank underneath for everyday wear.

nice shirt

fits like the bodyfit series. I wear mine as casual wear, so I sized up. Feels a bit thinner than my bodyfit 150's and I think the v-neck is a tad deeper, as well. Not really see-through, but wearing a black bra under the shirt (if it's not the black one) is not recommended unless you are trying to make a statement.
