If you've ever tried wearing a beanie under a helmet, you know that it's less than ideal. The Icebreaker Quantum Headliner uses a 260g merino wool for low-profile comfort and insulation. Built with convenient earflaps, it fits under any type of helmet be it snowboard, ski, mountaineering, or climbing-style helmets.

Whoa! Need quite the big head

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

I know this OS, and I do not have a small head for a woman but this thing is HUGE. In addition to the size, it offers zero warmth. It is very thin, I wore it one day in 9 degree temps skiing under my helmet- and it did nothing. I went with a Turtle Fur hat, and that did the trick. (Thin and comfy under a helmet.) This icebreaker beanie isn't really worth the cash. But their face/neck gator rocks!

Great helmet liner

The fit and shape of this little guy certainly makes for a near perfect helmet liner. I didn't notice any movement of the hat under my ski helmet, heck I hardly noticed it at all, due to its just-right thickness, though you will notice you're no longer cold on the coldest days.
I have to admit though, I switched to the Stoic merino comp to take up more space in my new ski helmet... But I still find the Icebreaker to be the better fitting liner.
