I wear size 9 and hate it when socks are too big. Any 9s out there try the small?

You could wear the Small socks if you want them tighter. With Icebreaker socks you can usually wear a couple of sizes depending on your desired fit.

Very comfy and very durable! I use them for running/ day hikes/ casual wear. Best part is they don't stink when I do!

Big fan of these guys. I used them most recently for a few days on the AT. would switch between 2 pairs every 12 hours. They dry quickly, I didn't have any blisters and they kept my feet comfy. Also had no problems keeping my feet warm early in the morning and late at night. The medium is a tad too big for my 10 size feet. Still very pleased with them. Seem a lot sturdier than some of the other merino socks I've owned as well.

I took these for a run when it was about 45 degrees outside and my feet got warm but the socks wicked all the sweat away. I'd probably use one of the thinner pairs for hiking in the summer heat.

I have hiked thousands of miles in these socks and love them! They are comfortable, warm, wicking, not bunchy, and dry pretty fast.

Quite an upgrade from my Champion socks from target. I normally buy the pack of 6 pairs for $10. I always had a problem with them because it felt like my feet were sliding around when they became sweaty. So I picked up a pair of these. Medium was a great fit for my size 10. My runs and hikes are 10x better now.

The biggest benefit to this sock is durability. Most merino socks are great for about 8-10 wears then are done or have thin spots. Icebreaker socks last for a long time - I got my first pair a year ago and have not yet found any thin spots in any of my Icebreaker socks. This guy is light enough for summer use or winter casual wear.

Following up on these two years later: The same pair I reviewed in June 2010 is on my feet today and they look great - no holes or anything. I actually had forgotten that I reviewed these, and when I was putting them on this morning though "I've had these forever and they still look new - I should really post that in a review". Then, I see that I've already reviewed them. To be clear: Icebreaker socks are expensive but may be the best cost per wear sock at Backcountry.com. They are fantastic, go buy them.
