When your ideal day includes trekking up the side of a mountain, crossing babbling brooks, or walking among giant redwoods, you'll need to treat your foot to the Icebreaker Men’s Hike+ Lite Anatomical Crew Sock for dry, breathable comfort and support. Instep and Achilles support keep the sock in place when you're scrambling over boulders during the final ascent, while stretchy merino wool wicks moisture, fights odor, and regulates your temp to keep the feeling fresh all day.

    Great Socks

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

This is a great sock. Warm, cushioned and anatomically correct! I was a Smartwool PHD addict but these have pulled me away. I now have 3 pair. to complement the collection of PHD's. Love em simple as that. I wear an 8.5 or 9 in everything and I bought the smalls. I have had a pair of Medium Icebreaker socks before and they were a little too big.

Thank you to Backcountry.com and Icebreaker for hand-selecting me to review this piece of gear for the benefit of the backcountry.com community.

Overview: the material and stitching are top notch. No awkward seams anywhere. Lots of stretch thanks to lycra. Very soft inside and out. Fits a little higher than some crew socks. but very true in the foot. At10.5 (43.5) size I wear a medium perfectly. The larges are too long in the foot, thus the heel padding ended on my ankle.

Pros: Lightweight and breathable. While keeping that warmth that you only get from wool. These are so comfortable in fact I forgot I was wearing them.

Cons: After wearing them to bed 3 nights in a row they stretched out a bit. After washing they returned to normal.

All round great preforming sock. From heavy hikes, long dry approaches to skiing, mt biking and sleeping in. I love the thick feel without over heating.

    One of the best!

Icebreaker Hike+ Lite/Mid Crew Socks are one of my favorites. With the Icebreaker Hike+ Lite/Mid Crew Socks being built well, comfortable and durable it is hard to find a better sock. I wear them in any moment I can, particularly throughout the winter. Berz Rating: 95/100

Ice Breaker hike lite crew sock

Ice Breaker is a New Zealand based company that get's it's wool from a special breed of sheep raised at high altitude. The end result is a product that after weeks of extensive use does not retain an odor, stays warm when wet, has a high warmth to weight ratio, and is a self extinguishing fabric (if you put a match to it the surrounding fabric will put the match out and not let it spread) A lot of other socks and fabrics are made out of polyester which is an oil based fabric that when set on fire sticks to your skin. Anything from Ice Breaker is solid especially this pair of socks. They can be used in cold 20 degress an warmer climates 85 degrees when doing high output activity and keep your feet warm and fairly dry. These are not ideal for when you get to your campsite or base-camp at the end of the day a thicker pair would be needed for low output activity in the cold. The fabric is woven very tight and helps reduce friction in your shoes minimizing the risk of blisters and greatly increasing the comfort level of wearing wool in general. All in all anything from this company especially their socks is bomb proof and will last for many years.

    Best Icebreakers Ever

I love Icebreaker socks, and have worn them in various weights and styles for years. All of them are comfortable, durable, and amazingly odor-resistant. But the Hike+ Lites are my favorites. The padding is perfect and your feet don't get hot at all even on summer hikes.

    Too long

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Be careful with these, they aren't regular length crew socks. They are very long and come up to my knee. At 5' 6" they are too long for me. Perhaps if you're over 6' these would be great for you.

    Icebreaker socks rule

They do a great job of wicking sweat and don't hold odor. You can wear them for a week without washing them.
