I had high hopes for this sock after reading the reviews and upon receipt and initial wear, found them very comfortable. However, after wearing them during a two day backpacking trip (swapping them out with Lorpen's Tri-Layer Light Hiker for comparison)and washing them on gentle cycle when I got home, they piled considerably even despite line drying them. I'm a huge fan of anything merino (odor reduction, versatility in different climates), they were great for hiking, didn't bunch up at the toes, and provided cushion in all the right places...BUT, piling after one wash?! If you're willing to use an alternate material than merino, the Lorpen Tri-Layers that I bought along with this set were fantastic.

When I had initially received the socks, I thought they were way to light. A few weeks later I found my self wearing them 5 days straight on a recent backpacking trip.
Very comfortable, cushion in all the spots you need it the most, but wicks like no other sock I've ever worn before.
Great Socks

I wore these on a hike through 3ft of punchy snow that got through my cheapo gaiters and into my boots. After a couple of hours the snow melted and the socks got wet, but my feet didn't feel it as much, nor did they get cold. The opening is tighter (but not too tight) and keeps the sock from slipping down.
A little bunchy

I bought a pair of these a couple of months ago and have worn them ~ half a dozen times since. The socks are plenty warm for outdoor activity, unfortunately I have relegated them to casual/around the house wear because I have trouble getting them to stay in place, they tend to bunch up under my arch. They wick moisture well and like all merino resist odor well. They are a great sock for some apres action.

I kind of stumbled onto these by accident but sure am glad I did. Very comfortable socks that protect my feet during long hikes. No itch at all and they wick moisture well. Very durable socks.
BC sells some of this brand in a 2 pack for a little less money.
Very comfortable

These socks are very comfortable. They did seem to pill a little early though, and I've only worn them a couple of times. I do use them pretty often though and am fairly rough with them.
So far so good

I haven't worn them long but I like the style and they're very comfortable. My only small concern would be that they've only been washed a couple times and they're showing minor wear.
Excellent...wish all my socks were these.

I love all my icebreaker products--these socks included. I took these camping with me in Big Sur and Death Valley. After a long hike, I just set them out, and the stink was all gone after just a few hours. They're also very comfy as well, so buy with confidence.

Great sock! I use to only buy smartwool's but their quality seems to have gone downhill as of late. I wear a size 13 and have XL's. They dont pill, dont wear in the heel, maintain their elasticity, and thus stay pulled up on the calf. Feet have never been cold and dont sweat either. Perfect.
Nice Socks!!

I love these bad boys... I've only had them a short while but I can already tell I will be buying another pair. They are my first Icebreaker socks so despite my friends telling me they were the best, I was still skeptical. I can tell you now that they ROCK! Check the sizing chart though, as I am a medium in these but normally a large in most other socks. Medium fits great...

Went snow shoeing last weekend. Icebreaker hat, top, leggings, but the socks were the best part of the gear. I'd buy more Icebreaker if I could afford it.
These are the Ones.

Bought two pairs of these socks for what I thought was the exorbitant price of US $20.00 a pair. It turns out that these socks have lasted for two years as not only summer hiking socks, but as winter cycling/ski liners as well, making them a real champ in my book. As of this review, they are still going strong, with all the benefits of merino wool (non-stinky, non-shrinky, wicks sweat almost magically, and no holes to speak of).
Top-of-the-line product here, as are all Icebreaker items. I usually wear a 10.5-11 and the "medium" has worked just fine for me. Buy 'em and you won't be even slightly disappointed.

great, soft, durable
I'd give them 5 stars, but they're a little tight around the calf.

These things are super comfortable, soft, and warm. I've owned Icebreaker merino T-shirts for years and I'm stoked to see these socks. They're thin, but don't be fooled: they're toasty as hell.
