Description

Lite socks for heavy hiking.

If you’re the guy who spends a lot of time on dusty trails and crossing cold creeks, you need a double-dose of Icebreaker’s Men’s Hike Lite Crew Hiking Socks ... so we offer a 2-Pack. Instep and Achilles support keeps the sock in place as you hump gear miles into the backcountry or scramble up rocky outcrops close to camp to take in the sunset. Pure merino wool is your ally in cold weather, but won’t turn your toes into shriveled prunes either.

Got these for the longer hikes where i want a bit more moisture wicking and cushion. Plus, they won't stink even when you do!

These socks are great. I have socks from Icebreaker, Smartwool, Stoic and some of the off brands(Kirkland, etc.). These are the best by far. Merino socks are nice anyway because they breathe well and I don't get blisters, but I have found durability issues in some brands. Not Icebreaker. These bad boys have held up well after many miles on the trails.

These are very comfortable socks and ones that I can wear in consecutive days with no worry of any issues occurring with my feet (smell, clammy feet, etc.). I wear a size medium and wear a 10-10.5 shoe.

These are perfect, and keep the funk down also. Just right for my feet. They dry fairly well also.

Just returned from a 62 mile hike in the wind rivers. Started at 7200 and went all the way up to 11000 in elevation. Zero blisters with these socks. That has never happened to my poor feet before. These socks are winners. I'll be buying more of this brand.

I now own 5 pairs of these. They are the only socks I wear! Just the right amount of padding, and they keep my feet comfortable and dry across a huge temperature range. The black are dressy and stealth enough to wear with business attire, or out on the town.

and these are no exception.
They are warm when you need them to be, and don't get too hot in warmer temps.

Merino socks are the warmest for you feet! You can also look at the mid weight hikers- they are thicker and have more merino so you feet are even warmer.

I am extremely picky about the socks I wear and over the last year I have become a "wool addict." I wish that I would have bought 12 pair! The weather is in the low 90s and when you have to wear boots everyday there really is no substitute. I have had these socks for almost a month. I rotate the pairs, so basically they get thrown in the wash every other day and holding up as if they're brand new.

I love these socks. I hike in them sometimes and use them as my heavier weight sleep socks when backpacking and they are awesome! I also love these socks for skate skiing.

Merino is King!

Great fit, tremendously comfortable, extremely breathable, and a great deal! Never itched or blistered, even after a week in the Gila Wilderness NM. Walk through a river? No probs! They dry rapidly and you have an extra pair to put on too!

I loves these socks. I haven't really had good wool socks like these before, but I'm pretty impressed with Icebreakers so far. They have a great fit and maintain their form so far. I've only washed them once but my fiance and her family love them as well and I want to get more of them. I wish these were still on sale and in stock in my size!

Pros
+ They feel great. Even after a long hike my feet were cool n dry.
+ They had good padding for a long long hike so I wasnt footsore at all
+ They kept my feet warm when it was cold out and my feet cool when it was warm out
+ They suppress the dreaded Stinky Foot smell

I couldn't find any cons. I liked them so much I now only wear these Icebreaker Merino Socks for hikes.

For years I stayed away from Merino Wool because I didn't want to deal with the itching, jeez was I wrong. These socks are very comfortable and I have never gotten blisters while wearing them. They are very durable socks!

I always used to get blisters with hiking shoes, but these socks are just the right thickness to provide enough protection and warmth but not be too sweaty. Also the merino wool is super soft, non-itchy, and best of all doesn't smell after even 3 days of heavy usage.

Are these socks side specific, because all four of the socks in my 2-Pack are designated with an "L" on the inside rim of each sock?

I don't believe they are side specific. The letters usually refer to the size of the sock. Hope this helps!

These particular socks are not Left/Right. The "L" refers to Large...but look out for Fall '11, when IB introduces Left/Right Hike+ socks in two weights!

I have a few pairs of them. They are not side specific.

Check out this blog post: http://travellingtwo.com/resources/merinowoolsocks-icebreaker

According to the bloggers: "The Icebreaker socks (on the left) have been used intensely for over a year but don’t show a fraction of the wear that the much younger Smartwool socks do. The Smartwool socks in this picture saw irregular use over 6 months. For this reason, Icebreaker is now our favourite brand."

More durable than SW!
