Smart, smooth-cut performance never goes out of style.

Soft and never scratchy, Icebreaker's fine New Zealand merino wool insulates you against the elements--and the Men's Long-Sleeve GT200 Chase 1/4-Zip Shirt does precisely this, with a killer athletic cut and flatlock seams to boot. Eyelet gussets add extra freedom of movement, and a deep front zip boosts airflow when you break a sweat. But don't sweat a little sweat though (sorry, couldn't help ourselves)--wool allows perspiration to evaporate away while still in vapor form, so it won't ever pool up on your skin. A drop-tail hem covers your lower back when you lean into a ski turn, reach for a climbing hold, or extend a trekking pole for your next step up the mountain.

I love handy lightweight quarter zips when thigs get a little chilly! And this is one is great! I'm an athletic 6'5" 220 lbs with 36/37 sleeve length and the XXL fits very comfortable for me. The fabric is awesome as expected and is further endearing me to merino products

Great feel and look. Haven't used it extensively yet, but it is very comfortable and doesn't seem to smell after a few days use. Great in cool temps for spring or fall.

I'm 5'11" and 147lbs, bought a small and it is basically form fitting. As a base layer it is ok, but barely.

I'm 5'7" and 155lbs, athletic fit (chest 38", waist 31"). I'm hesitating between Small and Medium. I don't mind snug fit, but not "compression" tight. Any recommendations?

You should be fine with Small. They run slim, but not that slim.

I am 5'9 158lbs. Chest measurement of 40 inches. Could I get a way with a size Large; or will it be too big?

Responded on

You should be fine. It may be a touch big, but not overly so.

Good Long underwear/shirt

Got these a few weeks ago, used them for running and skiing in winter temps.

They dry out fast, wick sweat well, and do not stink after.

Used them solo (for chest) for running down to 35 F at sea level. Would use the 260 g/m for colder temps though.

Used them as a Base Layer for skiing down to 20 F under an insulated hardshell jacket. Would use the 260 version for anything colder.

Is the color "oak" more of a gray or a brown? Can't really tell by the pic.

I'm wearing it right now

I got one off Steep and Cheap, and it's amazing. I have a long commute, and it's nice to have good layers on cold days. Merino is hands down the most amazing fabric I've ever worn. The 3% spandex makes the perfect fabric a little stronger, without changing everything good about it. I just paid more to get a second one, if I had the dough, it would even be worth a bill.

Great hiking/running/anything shirt

5'7", 185lbs the large is a great fit. I don't like my shirts super tight, but at my size it's a great loose, form fit. Just what I was looking for. It's first trial was a relaxing Sunday afternoon @ 60F with 5 mile hike and then 3.5 mile trail run. Perfect for it. I'm sure I'll find more uses for it.

I don't think I would go with anything less than their 200 weight.

My Icebreaker collection continues to grow.

Two questions:
Does this have thump loops?...

Two questions:
Does this have thump loops? i cant see from the pictures :)
Also, is the eyelet/perforated gussets extending all the way down the arms/side of the shirt, or is it just the back and arm pits?

Thanks a lot!

Best Answer Responded on

1. It has thumb loops
2. The eyelets end about 6" from the hem of the shirt

Worth the money, and that's saying something.

Wow. This is a great shirt. It will keep you warm when you're moving down to about freezing, and if you layer it under a softshell, this will be awesome to some pretty low temperatures. It breathes better than cotton or poly as it's thinner, and being made of Merino Wool it's excellent at temperature regulation. It also doesn't smell, which is sweet for the backcountry. I've excercised in and worn mine about twelve times without washing it and it still doesn't smell. All in all, a great shirt, even if it is a little pricey.

Most useful piece of clothing I have

This is the MOST USEFUL piece of clothing I have. It works great as a layer under a shell, but can really we worn at any time. It doesn't pick up any odors for a long long time. But the most important thing is that it is the perfect warmth/cool ratio. Wear it when its chilly, but don't worry because it breathes so well that when you warm up it won't feel overly hot. If you only had to choose one piece of layer clothing to get, this would be it. There are a couple of other weight availabe, 150 & 250, that I'm sure would also do the trick. I'm a 5'6" guy but extremely buff, and the small fits great for me.

I wear this all year round, but it works greatest when its a bit chilly and you need that extra layer.

Great shirt for cool weather running.

I run in this shirt from about 32-60F, or colder when under a shell. Great temp range, never smells, good fit. Size small fits athletic, not skin tight. It allows a little air to circulate, which i think is crucial to regulate temp.

For reference I am 5-8, 130 lbs and here is how icebreaker sizing works for me

chase 150-200 - small
bodyfit 150-200 - medium
bodyfit 260 - small
beast - small

Its hard to go wrong with icebreaker!

I'm loovin it

This shirt is great to wear. I use it for my mtb trips. It is great when the wheather is a little chilly and you don't have to chanage it when it gets warmer. I'm loovin it!!

I would definitely recomend it to friends - the ones I like to see again :-)
