    In love!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

I love wool, big time. So after Outside Online came out with an article on wool sports bras, based on activity, I jumped at the opportunity to try the Rush Sports bra as it not only had the highest merino content, but was deemed best suited for high-impact activities for A to B cups.

Thus far, this bra exceeds expectations. I sweat a lot while ... doing everything (mostly running) and was experiencing a "Florida Everglades" sensation when wearing other compression, synthetic sports bras, and the Rush bra does exactly the opposite as my swampy sports bras. This bra not only dries faster than anything I've ever experienced, but it wicks away moisture like crazy! The fabric is definitely thick, in the sense that it's got two layers of merino wool for modesty and compression purposes. I would say if you're looking for a lightweight bra for backpacking or low-impact activities, try any from the Ibex line (e.g. the Balance bra).

It's definitely a compression bra, with not a whole lot of stretch, so there's not much given in terms of putting it on, so folks with shoulder injuries, take heed. I've not experienced any chafing, and found the fit was true to size: I'm at 34A and purchased a small, and the fit around the chest is perfect. I would say if you have a wide rib cage and similar chest size, it's worth trying both a medium and a small to see which one you prefer most. I like to feel secure and sort of "battened down," which is exactly how the Rush fits me. Also, I have a pair of Icebreaker's Sprite hot short in an XS, and it's a little snug on my bum, so I figured (based on their sizing), that the small in a top would work best for me. But, there's no pinching, lumping, or anything like that. All in all, I am really excited to see how this bra holds up during other seasonal activities!

    Great for year around use

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small

I have worn this sports bra year around and haven't found it to be too hot in the summer as one might think with wool and isn't itchy at all! It is my go to sports bra for biking, trail running and winter sports like skate skiing, providing enough support without being restrictive. I do find that the sizing tends to run on the small side.

    Quality

I have to disagree with the 2 reviews below me. I've used this bra for the last 2 summers as a base layer to go under my yellow nomex while wildland fire fighing and I couldn't be more pleased with it.

You are probably thinking wool? For a bra?? Yes. It keeps you from smelling and its keeps you cool and dry. The fibers in merino are different than normal wool so it isn't itchy like your favorite holiday sweater.

True to size, comfortable, and moves with me without having to be readjusted. I have lived in this bra nearly every day for around 10 months (counting both fire seasons) and it has yet to start breaking down or show any wear.

I typically work in conditions that very hot, both in radiant heat and weather and I sweat A LOT. The merino wool keeps me from getting hot and drenched in sweat as it wicks away moisture from sweat and pulls it to the outer most layer so it can evaporate.

In summary this is an awesome piece and Icebreaker is an outstanding brand that makes quality products.

    Sweaty, too hot for summer

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium

I generally wear a 34 A, bought a medium, and it looked really cute on. I bought it for spring and summer backpacking, but it turned out to be too thick and heavy of a material for me to use during aerobic and sweaty activities. It does not stretch much, which I think is probably good for high impact activities, but this feature also makes it really difficult to take off by yourself. Especially if you have anything nearing broad shoulders like I do. It was surprising for it to be so hard to take off even though I sized up from my usual small. I find it is ok for slow yoga and ice skating, but would not wear this backpacking again.

    Runs small, feels itchy

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

First, if you're tempted to try this item, definitely size up. I almost always wear an XS on top (including w/other Icebreaker items), but I could barely breathe in this XS. The S fit better, but I couldn't get past the itch factor -- again, not usually a problem with Icebreaker items. So, returning this one, unfortunately.

    Lovely, but not for me

The quality of this bra is fantastic, nice feeling wool and well made. Unfortunately it did not work for me. I had hoped to find a wool bra to work for my D cups and this bra was one of the only ones that claims to work for D cup sizes (light support). It didn't feel right on me-- it felt like I would burst out of it. I think this would be great for smaller cup sizes.
