Icebreaker made the midweight Women's BodyFit260 Tech Top from high-quality New Zealand merino wool. The Tech Top has a mid-height, three-way collar (zipped up to your chin, zipped up and rolled down, or open) so you can seal out the cold or dump excess heat as needed. The thumb loops keep the sleeves where they belong as well as help keep your wrists warm in chilly weather. Merino wool insulates when wet in case you get caught in the rain, doesn't stink like synthetics when you sweat in it, and offers expedition-weight warmth at half the bulk. Plus, this top breathes so you stay comfortable and dry when you exert. Wear the Icebreaker Tech Top as a base layer when skiing or alone for cool-weather aerobic activities. Make no mistake, merino is not the like the wool in your mom's old ski sweater—merino keeps you warm without the itch.
Bottom Line: The Icebreaker Tech Top is a simple and versatile top for all your cool-weather sports.
I've been rocking this top for nearly 5 years in every type of use imaginable- road biking, mtn. biking, camping/ hiking, resort skiing, backcountry skiing, fly fishing. I almost never wear synthetics anymore because this is so superior- it never stinks (whereas my synthetics get pretty gross after just an hour or two!). It's the perfect weight for pretty much any outdoor activity in the Northwest and in Jackson. For a bit more warmth, I like to layer this with a superfine 190 tank underneath.
This was my first piece of Icebreaker clothing. Warning - once you start you won't wear anything else again. The Tech Top is very versatile. Wear it on it's own or as a layering piece. Get it looser for that reason. Merino wool fibers are so fine and soft that they do not cause any irritation. (Unless you are one of few that just can't tolerate the feeling of wool) Does not smell, drys quickly. Keeps you warm when wet. Really there is no synthetic product that can compete with Icebreaker and the inherent qualities of merino wool.

While this is slightly itchier than the SmartWool (this is coming from someone who cannot stand the itch of wool!) but still very wearable. I love the fit even after washing, the finger holes, and the extra tall collar even more so than the SmartWool mid-weight. It wicks the moisture great and looks fashionable to boot! Looks and feels great even off the slopes with jeans if you want something to throw on with a vest. Works wonderfully as the only base layer under a North Face HyVent snowboarding jacket down to around 30 degrees - and I'm the type who is always freezing. Not any more...
Warm and not itchy AT ALL. It also doesn't smell after a long day on the slopes, which is a big plus. My boyfriend lives in this stuff since it doesn't smell. The only small problem I have with it is mine has started to pill where it rubs a top layer on the sleeves and bottom. Not a big deal though.
This and the Oasis BF200 are my two favorite Icebreakers. I wear it for running and snowshoeing and appreciate the zip ventilation. I found it far more comfortable than the altitude zip (no annoying arm seams) and just slightly looser. It's still very flattering/formfitting but not painted on. I was really skeptical about the anti-stink claim but it's true. I wear my shirts many times before I wash them and only then because I think they must be dirty, not because they seem so.
Absolute staple! This is the looser fit, and layers perfectly over the "slim fit" model (which I also own). I pair the two with a windstopper vest for hitting the slopes in 40+ dry winter conditions. Aside from its awesome performance, the styling is great too, very comfortable, very flattering, and the 1/4 zip allows you to adjust coverage to suit the temps (or attract the cuties ;).
I added another two Icebreakers, black and cranberry, to my collection. They perform great and good weight for snowshoeing up the mountain in the westcoast and warm enough when pairing with the Northface Hybrid vest. The fit is slightly bigger (1/4 inch wider and 1/2 inch longer) than the other "slim fit", so you may consider ordering one size smaller if you are used to the snug fit.
Keeps up to the Icebreaker name (odor-free, non-itching etc). Got the medium as its form fitting, and I wear the Crewe shirt underneath when skiing. Love the two tone colour.
Bought this shirt 3 days ago and haven't wanted to take it off! The thumb holes rock. The shirt regulates heat very well, did an 8 mile hike in it with no probs. I want to buy more of these.
I bought the royal blue color Tech Top. The color is beautiful. I initially thought my Tech Top was cut a bit on the "shorter" side, compared to my other Icebreaker tops, but I have been wearing it (for workouts mostly) and don't notice the length as much as I first did. I usually wear them 3-5 times before washing, and I have not noticed an odor, except when I'm sweaty and the fabric is damp - a wet wool smell - which, in my opinion, is not unpleasant or offensive. I have gotten a lot of compliments on the thumb loops, which are especially nice for layering. I haven't had any problem with my Icebreaker items pilling; although, I don't use a dryer, which might make a difference. I would buy it again if the price was right, but there are other Icebreaker tops I would pick over the Tech Top, if I was buying at full price. Still... a great BIG thumb's up!
This was my first Icebreaker top as well. I love, love, love it. I have worn it hiking and even out to a bar on a chilly night! I love the thumb holes and the zip. It's a fantastic base layer - and can be worn alone. I also agree - once you go wool, you won't want anything else. Icebreaker is awesome quality.
I had some trepidation at first with this as it is pretty tight. I was worried it would bind. It has been great - warm, flattering, and great color (I have the red). You won't want to put more than a thin layer underneath, but great for a baselayer.
I have about four Icebreaker tops and love their softness, warmth, and the thumb holes. Living and playing in Jackson Hole, it's essential to have something warm and useful. When I saw this hot pink color, I had to have it.
Have this one in black. Really great. Not heavy enough for dead of winter outdoors London by itself under my shell (I'm a bit cold that way), but perfectly toasty with Crew 260 underneath. I have worn this every day since I've gotten it, it's become an addiction. Because I am traveling round the world at the moment, I need my limited selection of clothes to be so loved that I never get tired of them. This qualifies, as do all the rest of my Icebreaker collection.
my girlfriend/wife loves these & lives in them thru winter. But then, she wears a bra & don't have to wash them after each use... My tender skin itches in icebreaker so i live winter outdoor in fleece & polypro that gets washed after each use.
This midweight does the job - keeps me SO incredibly warm I don't need to layer up like I usually do with a cotton long sleeve and hoody. Doesn't smell, fits great (I am 5'5 and 127 lbs. and got a S), and looks great for even going out to dinner.
I have this Icebreaker BodyFit260 Tech Top in 2 colors & wear them all winter long! I am slowly switching all of my long underwear to Merino Wool because of the NON B.O. factor--these shirts just never stink! I bought Smalls in this shirt & think they run a little big: if I re-order I'd get XS's. The shirts wash easily, I dry them flat & there has been no shrinkage or stretching.
