Icebreaker's BodyFit260 Leggings Midweight Bottoms offer full coverage in nature's most effective temperature-regulating fiber: 100% pure Merino wool. Stretchy, soft, and warm, these midweight bottoms are forerunners in the return to natural-fiber apparel. Wool used to be itchy, thick, and hand-wash-only, but Icebreaker turns that belief on its head. The Merino wool used in these leggings is thinner than its synthetic equal, just as soft, naturally odor-resistant, machine-washable, and better at keeping you comfortable in stop-and-go activities. Icebreaker's midweight bottoms won't overheat your sprints or leave you shivering at the finish line, and the gusseted crotch further increases range of motion.
Bottom Line: Icebreaker's Leggings are wicked warm and won't leave you smelling like a barnyard.
Just got a pair of these and they are great! One word of warning don't put them in the dryer- I did with my last pair and got significantly less life out of them.
200lb, 34" waist. Have these in large and they fit great. A bit loose at first but after a washing (follow the label) they are my go to now. SO comfortable. In fact, I have been wearing them non stop for day and half (snowboaded in them, drank in them, slept in them and then went out and snowboaded some more) now I am comfortably at home typing this with them on (and goretext pants!) So they have kept me warm when it was windy and 20 degrees and cool when it was 75 degrees) I love merino wool. Head to toe! No kidding, balaclava to socks. Everything should be this effective. Thank you merino sheep!!

these are really comfortable and definitely keep you warm. i boarded with these and a pair of goretex pants in 20 degree weather and it was perfectly comfortable. didn't get cold or sweaty. surprisingly has very good temperature regulation.
It is all a matter of personal preference, and everyone will differ in what they feel is "better". I personally prefer my smartwool midweight bottoms. I've tried on both brands and I like the feel of the smartwool better. I'd also recommend you check out both company websites and use them as an additional resource/reference in your decision. Either way I would point you in the direction of a wool baselayer - they're the best at both warming and cooling (in my humble opinion)!
Use this top with the 260 top and makes a great layer. Worked almost too well in 10-20degF weather with a brisk wind but kept me nice and warm. It's soft and even after a long day of working was still fresh. Worth the price, fit is true though a bit baggier than I expected. Remember, you can wash it but don't dry it! It is wool after all...
...wear sheep. These are pricey, absolutely, but so it a lot of other junk by big name manufacturers that don't deliver what the consumer pays for. Considering what you get for your hard earned cash, these are a much better investment than most 401K's these days. These fit superbly and are very soft. I have pretty picky skin (especially down there) and I can teste-fy that these absolutely do not itch. As others have mentioned, the comfort range is wide open from cold days on the lift to 12oz curls at the bar I never think about being warm or cold, dry or sweaty. I just can't say enough about Icebreaker garments. From base layers to outerwear, and from top to bottom I just can't get enough.
These are nice wool bottoms. I didn't want the easy access underwear slot, which is why I chose these. The waist band was a little tighter than I expected and the tag said "slim fit" the website didn't mention anything about that part. Still, they're pretty comfy and I'm counting on them stretching out a bit over time anyway.
