Covered from head to hips in wonderful merino wool.

When spring slides in but the snow's still dropping, the Icebreaker Men's BodyFit 200 Oasis Hooded Top makes a great baselayer at the ski resort. Its merino wool regulates your body temperature and stays fresh after extended uses. The hood warms your noggin and ears on chilly backpacking trails, and the zip neck lets out a bit of steam during uphill hikes or resort bump runs. The Oasis also features flatlock seams to decrease uncomfortable rubbing against other layers, and the seams are offset at the shoulder to keep you comfortable with a backpack on. The drop-tail hem increases coverage when you bend over to check your boots.

Great Shirt - Bought Wrong Size

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I really liked the color of this shirt (Nori Heather), but I ordered a small and should have gotten a medium - which were sold out when I went to exchange. Great looking shirt though - and very well made.

    Sizing Tip

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: L / XL

Ordered two of these, one in L and one in XL. I am 6' 4 and weight about 195. I also have fairly long arms, and found both sizes to be just a little too small for my preference. They both came up short in the length and the sleeve length. That being said, construction of the piece is great, material is soft and immediately warm when you put it on.

    Awesome

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I wore this for about two weeks straight on a glacier. No odor, extremely comfortable, and the hood came in handy when I needed something to block out the rays of the sun, yet not overheat under like a hat/beanie. The chest zipper also allows a little air when you need it. Yes, these are a little more expensive than your average baselayer, but the versatility is pretty awesome. Cannot believe I didn't get an icebreaker earlier for my trips.

    Nice wool weave

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: medium

OK, I am a wool fanatic, but I have found that if you don't gingerly take care of these pieces, they end up with holes. At the price you pay, its a little heartbreaking. Sure I sew them when I can, but come on. So, in my experience I have found that the Icebreaker pieces seem to have a better weave. And this adds to their durability.
Sizing is a little tight, I usually wear medium, I probably should have ordered a large

    Another Great Item from Icebreaker

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

Love the fit, tailored but not overly slim. It's going to get a lot of use this Fall and Winter. Light enough to be a mid-layer, but the cut is also good for a lighter top layer with a t-shirt underneath.

    Good fit

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I've used it several times and its been great. It is great for layering and the hood is great to keep your head warm. The 260 weight merino wool is great and with this and a good shell its warm enough to used in temps down to 15F.

    Wonderful fit

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

I have used the Oasis crew for a couple of years and love it as a base layer. But I would never wear it as a stand-alone shirt because it was so skin-tight, causing me to feel immodest in public.

This hooded top is nice and form-fitting but not skin tight. I wore it with 2 t-shirts underneath and it looks like a normal, thin hoodie on me. I'm 6'1" 175 and the medium fits really well.

    Magnificent Merino

    • Fit: True to size

I use merino wool base layers for most of my outdoor activities. I live in the mountains of Colorado and the level of warmth and comfort that merino brings me has won me over as my material of choice. I layer up with a merino base when skiing in the winter season and often hike and climb with just a single merino layer in the summer. Icebreaker products have always proved to be well built and durable for all the abuse I give them. This hoodie is no exception, another awesome product.

    Unanswered Question

Can this really fit under a ski helmet? I find the Patagonia r1 version both too large and too thick. Does anyone make a slim tight fitting hood

Would the hood fit comfortably under a ski helmet or would that be ill advised?

Yes it is designed to be worn under a helmet. Obviously, everyone's head is shaped different and it my not be a perfectly snug fit on yours. That being said it is designed to work under a helmet and should be quite nice. I wear the Icebreaker Drifter an it has a much looser fitting hood. I love it.
