A badass baselayer made with magnificent merino.

Let the Icebreaker Men's BodyFit 260 Apex Zip-Neck Top warm your bones on the slopes this winter. Its midweight merino wool regulates your body temperature so you're neither too warm nor too cold. Thanks to the naturally odor-resistant properties of merino wool, this top stays fresh after a long day of trekking up hills and bombing down chutes. A zipper at the collar lets out some steam during intense rides, and thumbholes keep the sleeves in place when you layer overtop. A drop-tail hem keeps snow from getting all up in your business when you lean down to buckle your boots.

Fantastic cold weather base

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use this as a mountaineering base-layer and really whenever else I get a chance to wear it, very comfy.

Its been a great active layer.
Great temp range (have taken to 16F with only Arcteryx Atom)
Manages moisture well
Hasn't retained the funk after a hard effort that synthetics do
Sleeve pocket fits my camera (with some effort)
Not itchy like some cheap wool items.

Fantastic cold weather base

Hard to give an accurate weight but it's on the heavy side for an active base layer. Definitely 260 gsm wool. If you don't need the temp range go for something lighter. I don't pack for change of clothes though so if this goes on a trip it pretty much stays on until I'm back so weight isn't as critical. It's worth really depends on how you have your layers setup, expected temps, activity level, and your own operating temp. I'd suggest picking one up to give it a good try and if it really doesn't work BC has a great return policy. I run very warm and moist when active so I require a base that can breathe like I'm not wearing it, dry quickly, but provides enough warmth that I'm not likely to need to put a less breathable layer on for warmth while on the go.
