Of the single and the many.

Ibis is never one to shy away from controversy, and the Tranny 29 Mountain Bike Frame is obviously no exception. By controversy, we of course mean the controversial way the frame is built, which allows for a bike that can transition between full cassettes and singlespeed. The heart of the Tranny is a feature called the Slot Machine, which governs chainstay length, adjusting it by up to 15mm in order to accommodate the differences between a singlespeed and a fully geared machine. No matter what your gearing needs are, the Tranny is never more than a single step away from meeting them.

Both triangles are made from monocoque carbon, so regardless of how you run it, the Tranny takes advantage of its 29er pedigree by embracing speed without wasting watts due to high weight or low stiffness. It can also be split into two discrete pieces for ease of storage and transport.

    • XC geometry with 29-inch wheels for pure speed
    • Monocoque carbon fiber frame for unrivaled weight and stiffness
    • Allows for single speed conversion with no eccentric bottom bracket
    • Low bottom bracket for confident stability on corners and terrain
    • Compliant seatstays absorb trail chatter without compromising efficiency
    • Item #IBS000M

    This thing RIPS

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Swapped my Ripley for a Tranny frame. Full XX1 wide carbon rims, 130mm Pike and a dropper. I was worried the hard tail would ruin descending for me and bump me around too much, but I was dead wrong. This thing flies down hills and corners more accurately and quickly than the Ripley. I've yet to take it out on a super long, or super techy trail, but so far this thing is fast agile and fun
