The Ibex Woolies Long Janes are a Merino wool midweight base layer designed for comfort and versatility. The Long Janes are semi fit to be efficient for layering without being constricting. An elastic waistband and gusseted crotch give you the comfort and mobility you need for winter sports. Merino wool is far superior, technically, to synthetics with incredible next-to-skin warmth, breathability and odor resistance.
Bottom Line: Better looking and smelling than Long Johns, Long Janes are just plain hot.
I am a tennis instructor who basically stands around (very little movement) on a frigid court all winter long, when the sun goes down it is generally mid 30's to mid 40's and i'm cold natured. Does anyone have a suggestion for the warmest under gear out there? Thanks. R
R, the Zepher Long Janes are the warmest true baselayer from Ibex, though Ibex does offer the Energy Tight which is a great layering piece for really cold weather.(230 g/m2 vs. 350 g/m2)
Here is my question -- last night I posed this question in response to my "request for return" confirmatory email which I received from backcountry.com. However, that might not have been the best place to ask these questions. The topic is merino wool long underwear bottoms for women. I have ordered, and am keeping, a pair of women's Ibex Woolies bottoms. I am returning, though, the pairs of Icebreaker light weight merino wool bottoms -- nothing wrong with them, but the Woolies simply are better for my purposes. What I cannot decide is whether I should keep the Smart Wool midweight merino wool bottoms (@ 250 g/m 2) -- which I love despite the fact that the crotch is not gusseted and which are twice as warm as the Ibex Woolies -- or (a)choose a similar type of bottom made by Minus 33 (which is perhaps the only sports clothing brand which backcountry does not carry -- why is this) at 230 g/m 2 and at $47.50 (w/S&H) OR (b) choose the Ibex long janes -- how warm are they in g/m 2?

Great fit, warm and not too tight. Ordered two pair, I'm always cold and the house is around 59 degrees....Highly recommended. Bought the Ibex norgie crew and together they're perfect.
Did you mean Icebreaker 260, or Icebreaker skin? Skin is only 200 g/m2. From Ibex's website: Long Jane is 230 g/m2 midweight interlock. So Icebreaker 260 will be warmest, followed by Ibex, and Skin will be least warm among the 3.
I give these a "pretty cool" because I don't think I am an authority on all first layer clothing for cold outdoor activities so I can't give them 5 star "love it" though I do. I love them so far. Comfortable, right size, long enough, stretchy, no signs of pilling yet, warm, breathable, etc.
Hmm. I don't think so, but since you have several pair and nothing to lose, I'd try one and see what happens. And congrats on losing some pounds - that's great!
