These run a bit small.

Blah boxer briefs.

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

Sizing is off, which is really is beyond my comprehension how companies allow this to occur. Patagonia is notorious for it. Ibex has been really good as far as sizing goes. The inner seam on the waistband is really uncomfortable. For $50 or $40 as I paid with a 20% off coupon I expect to get a better quality product. The elastic in the waistband has little stretch. All in all a big disappointment from Ibex, too bad they didn't make them in the USA like the Zephyr boxer brief which I have several pairs in large and love. These are large, well at least of the tag they are...

Great Gear

i call them gear because ibex designed them with functionality as the primary concern. that's just fine with me. these are designed for the waist to be worn a little higher than say, icebreaker. this is great as it prevents your ski pants from rubbing against your belly, hips, and waist, and it keeps you covered when you bend over to grab something or hand/foot match on your climbing project. the tag on the right leg annoys me every once in a while; it's not bad, but i may eventually cut it off.

only complaint is that sizing is off. you should probably go up a size. i have a 33 inch waist but the medium was WAY too small. i got the large which is claimed to be for size 34-36.

other than that, great material. i have no specific evidence of this, but ibex wool just feels like it performs a little better than other brands. in any case, top notch material and great design with an eye toward the little details.

Nice pair of shorts so far

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

I agree with a previous reviewer that these run a bit small, but nothing for me that resulted in profound discomfort. I deployed these on a recent climb of Mount Rainier, and they performed as hoped--no sagging, no chafing and the wool was soft and itch free. I can't comment on their long-term durability, but the initial impressions are favorable.

Too tight

I wear a Large in Patagonia, Ex-Officio, and UnderArmour boxer briefs, and they all fit perfectly. These are noticeably smaller, and without any spandex/elastane they are very unforgiving. I gave them a test ride on the motorcycle in 80 degree heat and while the wool performed as described, I could feel the bottom seems digging into my thighs. If you don't want a short inseam and zero stretch I'd look elsewhere.

Responded on

I had the same issue. I went up to a XL, they fit pretty good.

Responded on

i agree that the sizing is small. but after sizing up, they feel good to me and don't have a short inseam.

These are my every day underwear. I like their feel. They don't feel sticky or clammy when I sweat. They are good whatever the temperature. Never want to go back to cotton.
