Go to jacket

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

Super comfortable and soft merino wool jacket. Great for casual wear, or for layering under a shell. Athletic fit - I'm 6' 185 lbs and it fits awesome. Definitely a go to jacket for me on Fall days in a dry but cool climate. It's been washed a few times and I've zero problems with shrinkage.

"Athletic" fit, super awesome

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:Runs small

I love this thing. Pretty sure it goes with me everywhere I go. The inside is surprisingly soft for a merino wool item. It always seems to be the right temperature when I'm wearing this thing! I think the hood looks a little funny, but its really just the fact that I'm used to cheap 2-piece hoods, not a well thought out fitted hood. That said, I'm glad I followed the advice of others and bought a size up. I am usually right on the cusp between medium and large. For the most part, most articles of clothing in medium fit well. There are the outliers that seem to fit a little funky, and in those I buy large. This is one of those items. Its definitely a trim fit, but with the little shrinkage that happens naturally, it could get a little too trim. The large works great. Shrunk down to a good "relaxed" athletic fit that I can definitely wear layers underneath, but isn't baggy when I'm just wearing a t-shirt.

Wonderfully Thick and Soft

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I got a size up expecting shrinkage and it did shrink a good deal, but since I was counting on it no sweat. The inside of the jacket is super fuzzy and soft and the exterior has the same feel as other merino I have owned. This is my first ibex product and it is very nice, can't speak for the durability, but I am sure it will be fine. 320 weight is pretty thick and warm. Not a 50 degree day hoodie. I would recommend this to a friend assuming they could size it right.

Great...until you wash it...

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I got this hoodie a couple of weeks ago. Took it on a week long trip to Jackson Hole and wore for travel and all around town, more as a casual piece. Felt and fit great. Very soft and comfortable. Washed it in my front loader on "handwash" setting and line dried it...and it shrank in length. Can't say how much, but enough to be noticeable. I'm 5'11" 175lbs and got the large. Fit great initally, not baggy, not technical, just comfortable...but now it just feels a little shorter and "closer". There's no way I could be an XL...Don't know what went wrong. Have had zero shrinkage issues with Icebreaker or I/O. Really wanted to love this piece.

Here's a follow-up. The people at Ibex stand behind their products and arranged an exchange. Unfortunately, most of the colors that were most appealing to me you were already out of stock so I had to settle for one that is just okay. At any rate, out-of-the-box it felt just as good as the first one. Having now washed it once, it shrank but not nearly as much as the first one. I'd say about a quarter of the size. Not enough for For me to return it but enough to be annoying. If you get one and it's a little big on you, it will probably be perfect after you wash it. Can't say that I'm going to get another one.

I absolutely loved this piece when it first arrived. It's very soft and warm, and almost feels like it has its own built-in thermostat. It was comfy at a wide range of temperatures. Then I washed it. I washed in cold/cold, delicate cycle, and then line-dried it, and it still shrunk about a full size. I washed it in the same load as some other merino gear, and none of the other pieces had a problem. This hoodie would be an easy 5-star piece without this rather major issue.

I bought this for my beau and honestly he never takes the thing off. He says it's a perfect layer for when he's skiing and boarding because it's not bulky, and doesn't make him overheat. The hood fits his head instead of flopping around. He's a pretty normal "medium" sized guy and the medium fit him perfectly. He normally has problems with sleeve length, but these sleeves don't fall short! The thumbholes are particularly nice for when he needs to wear gloves. Also, the merino is SO soft -- it's like that brand new sweatshirt feel without the weight. I almost want to get one for myself, now!

Could someone let me know what the interior...

Could someone let me know what the interior of this sweatshirt feels like? I'm looking for something super soft to the touch and "fluffy".

The Ibex Nomad Full-Zip Hoody is soooo soft and as soon as you put it on you'll start warming up. It's the perfect thickness for layering over with your shell, so not bulky, but it's got that "sweatshirt" fluffy thickness feel. It's my go to piece for wearing in my cold office. I totally recommend it!
