    Great bra!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

This is my first wool bra and I love it. True to size fit, soft against the skin and perfect for low to moderate activity. I am a 34B and bought a small. It washes well and dries quickly. I highly recommend this bra and will buy more in the future.

    Really comfy

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: large

Great wool bra that doesn't hold the stink. I thought I'd take it off at night but it was so comfortable I forgot. I wore it for 6 days backpacking, and washed it once and only with water. It never stunk and was comfortable the entire trip.

    Simple design, just enough support

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I'm a 34C/D and found the size medium to be just enough support for activities like biking, hiking, skiing or practicing yoga. This is a traditional style sports bra - no bells or whistles (or padded cups) - just quality merino wool and spandex in a simple racer back design. The cups (and body) are double layered to provide that little lift, tuck and extra coverage in front when things get more exciting. I recently wore this on some long travel days and found that after 12 or so hours the elastic nature of the beast wore on me, but for daily exercise and running around town this is my new go-to. May be a little snug around the torso at first but I find merino/spandex items give a little after wearing/washing a few times.

Good fabric but proportions need work

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love the fabric, but this version has become even narrower at the top around the arms and shoulders. The elastic there is disproportionately tight and the chest band is too loose. It's an odd shape that is wider at the bottom and narrower at the top.

    Doesn't stink!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm a wildland firefighter and I started to wear Ibex sports bras this summer. I've worn this bra for 14 days straight during fire assignments with intense sweating, no showering (occassional jumps into a lake/creek if we had that luxury), and while sleeping and it was barely stinky. I was really impressed by that. Also, although its wool, I never felt over heated or itchy and I usually wear a cotton t-shirt and then a nomex long sleeve shirt over that as my uniform. i also found that the bra dried very quickly even while I was wearing it (from those very few occasions that I jumped into a lake/creek while wearing the bra or just from the major sweating from working/hiking). I like that the entire bra including the band is all the same material instead of having a separate elastic band. It never felt too tight or confining. The only issue I had was that I felt like that bra didn't really stay in place all the time. I felt like it was ride up a little, so I'd be doing readjustments pulling it down a little all throughout the day. That was probably the most annoying part for me. Maybe because I have a small chest? A/B.. anyways its really not that bad and I'll likely continue using this bra especially during fire assignments.

    Nice, wool bra.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I really like this bra. I have tried other wool sports bras (I'm a fan of wool) and have not been impressed with other wool bras - I got lots of chafing, too much support, or too little support. With the Ibex Balance Bra, I haven't gotten any chafing and the support seems great for cycling and pretty good for running. I bought a medium, based on previous reviews to size up. I'm a 34 A and it seems like the medium works. What I like about this bra, is that it dries quickly and doesn't smell so that after a workout I don't have to change out of it quickly. I got the color shell which works well under clothing since you can't see it. The best part about this bra is that I don't feel it around my chest.

Why doesn't Ibex make an XL?

My stash of I/O Bio Merino bras have finally worn out so I've been looking for replacements from Ibex or Icebreaker. If you are looking for a seamless and comfortable merino bra, I think Ibex did a really awesome job with this one. If I didn't have to buy a size too small I would barely remember I was wearing it, even under heavy pack loads. I just don't understand why they don't make an XL. I'm willing to sacrifice the fit a little and make do with a L because I think the merino is 100% better than synthetic, especially if your core gets cold really easily. Definitely a better choice for any overnight camping, yurt, or hut trips, and great for extended travel when you can't wash your clothes too often. High fives to merino for it's travel awesomeness! I would give it 5 stars if they had a full size range available!

      Better than cotton, by far

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I got this for my special lady friend because cotton isn't really getting the job done. Her reports are a bit mixed (sweat is still wet, and still makes her cold) but not nearly as much so as cotton did. So, better, but not perfect.

      OK, but not awesome

Wow, this does run small. I'm a 34C with narrow shoulders and I find the medium very snug. I usually wear size small in clothing so I thought I was erring on the side of caution by ordering the medium. It turns out I probably should have chosen the large. Other than the peek of pregnancy, I've never worn anything in a size large. Although it's pretty comfortable in the circumference, the straps chafe my neck a little and for the first time in my narrow shouldered life I wish this had a slightly wider neck opening. I also feel like it's not quite long enough and I keep having to tug it down. The fabric is wonderful, but the sizing is off. The Icebreaker sports bra (in medium) gives me the perfect fit. I really liked the style of this bra and hoped I would love it as much as the Icebreakers, but sadly, I don't.

great unless you have braod shoulders

Soft comfy material, noted the band under the breast was very low profile and super comfy which is unusual, but otherwise not a good fit for me unfortunately, or probably any woman with broad shoulders (climber ...). Otherwise it would have been great.

Does the Ibex balance sport bra have padded cups, or simply an unpadded double layer of wool? What about balance bralette, or Smartwool PhD bras?

I just bought this, and no, it does not... that was an older model that was better than this current model which in my opinion does not give any support because the cups are just stretchy material. It's pretty much like not wearing any bra at all (I'm a size 34 C or D depending on bra type and this gave zero support in size large; and I cannot size down otherwise the rib-cage area will be way too tight for me.)
