Ibex Alpstar Pant - Men's - 2006 BCS

I just move to Seattle and wanted a winter pant that I could wear around town yet also go hiking in. I also wanted a pant that would do well in wind or light rain.

I wear these pants half of my days off. They're great- they look good (not like a pair of technical hiking pants), they're comfortable, but.... they're EXPENSIVE.

The only reason I'd give them 4 stars is the price.

Fit very well, true to size. Breathes well and relatively warm for their weight. Wind resistant. You can't go wrong if you want a technical garment that looks good for around town wear.

I received my Alpstar pants a couple of days ago and put them and wore them for two days straight. Yesterday (the second day wearing them) it rained for most of the day. The rain fell right off them just like I expected, but it was cool to see nonetheless being new to softshells. They also kept my legs comfortably warm in the cool weather. Later that evening there was an Irish Music Concert that I went to and being somewhat of an Irish Dancer myself I danced hard and definitely broke a sweat among the many hot bodies that were there. The merino wool interior and the softshell exterior blew my mind in how breathable they were, not once did I feel any "stuffiness" sensation. To top it all they are perfect for almost any social setting. They look almost formal so you can get by wearing them to church etc. and at the same time they look great for casual wear as well. I cannot recommend these highly enough. Kudos to Ibex for a huge winner.
