When could you not use a soft wool zip-up hoody? We're pretty hard-pressed to think of any situation besides the opera or sumo wrestling. At any other time--i.e. a casual Saturday, a work day, a campus day, a date, a trip to the yoga studio, or an evening baking session--the I/O Bio Merino Women's Signature Pocket Hooded Sweater will keep you at just the right temperature. When you hit a hiking trail or practice your eagle pose, the wool breathes and keeps you dry. And as you wait for the ski shuttle on a chilly morning, you'll thank the stars for wool's insulating power.
The cut and style of this hoodie is extremely feminine and also has great length- having a longer torso- this piece covers the waist to the hips well and is ultra comfortable and protective. An extremely versatile layer as it works well for casual daily use, excellent in layering functions for athletic activities, and also works well to guard against the cold and wind. Great pocket placement with zips, warm and cute hoodie, and nice overall zipper function. AIso works great as a travel item as it is durable and regulates/adjusts to changing temps quickly. I am a 5'8 and a size 6/medium, and the medium in this fits perfectly. Functional and fashionable, and a great fit- a very versatile sweater/jacket!
If you're looking for an extra layer that's not too hot for your bike ride/run/walk on a chilly morning, this is a great article of clothing to have. If you get a little sweaty the wool wicks away the moisture while keeping you warm. The sleeves and back are long enough to keep your arms and lower back covered while stretched out or hunched over on your bicycle. The hood is not very bulky and easily fits under your helmet if you want to keep your ears warm.

This hoody is my second IO Bio piece. And it doesn't disappoint. All too often, you see technical wears that look, well, technical, and not urban enough. "Form follow function (Pati's moto)" or "function is beauty (Montbell)" have very limited applications in the urban environment. Well, IO Bio changed all that. They make stuff out of technical fabric, but they don't skimp on design. This hoody is awesome. It's made of 260g/m2 Australian merino wool. Having owned so many New Zealand wool garments, I honestly can't tell which wool is softer, but it's soft. The lining in the hood and the pockets are made from IO's Contact merino undies, and the graphic design is awesome (note the photo doesn't shown the lining in the pockets, but they are lined with the same design and material as the hood). I usually wear xs or sm in US brands, and I bought a sm in the hoody and it fits great. The length is longer than conventional hoodies, which is a good thing especially if you are tall. The longer length, coupled with the material, makes it a highly technical piece of insulation. It will be perfect for snowboarding in winter, and backpacking in summer.
Bought this sweater for myself, my daughter and granddaughter. Each of us love it for its comfort, fit and color combination: bright green with magenta lining. I have recently also purchased additional I/O Bio Merino gear for my granddaughter and she loves each piece.
I have their contact wool bottoms, and you just wash gentle on cold and line dry. Although I've done 15 minutes on the underwear cycle with no issues, but buyer beware.
Direct from I/O bio's site: Technical advances allow merino to be washed and tumble dried like any other fabric. I personally hang dry all of mine..but looks like you can dry it.
I am a wool fanatic, and through trial and error I've learned that the softness of the fabric varies even within some of the big brands (Icebreaker, SmartWool). As a result, I'm a little wary whenever I buy a piece online.
This hoodie is awesome though. I have really sensitive skin so if the material is the least bit scratchy, my skin turns red and itchy very quickly. Although this is a hoodie, it's so soft that I could wear it against my bare skin and know that I won't itch at all!
I'm 5'2" and I like the longer length of this jacket. It's nice to know that I can bend down to pick something up without exposing bare skin and getting a chill down my back!
I have the version of this jacket pictured. It's all black, even in the hood and the pockets, so it's different from the one catiecoo got last year.
I live in the SF/Bay Area so this piece will be worn year round! My only criticism is that the pockets are a little different than the ones I'm used to. I like that they're deep enough that I can run up the stairs at work without my phone bouncing out, but there's something about the shape that makes me look lumpy whenever I have something in them. I have several jackets that have a similar style/pockets and only have this problem with this particular jacket. It's a small price to pay for such a great multiseason piece though. Way better than the expensive lululemon jacket I got that looks almost exactly the same!
I absolutely love this hoodie! If I didn't have to shower, I would never take it off. Super soft and comfy and it's the perfect length - a little longer in the torso and it looks great with everything. It's one of those pieces I got on a whim and never had a clue how much use I'd get out of it.
I love wool, or at least the idea of it. I got this and really liked everything about it except the length...I'm small and the elongated torso doesn't work on me all that well. I was going to send it back because it is a pricey piece (even on sale) and to justify spending the money I figured I should get exactly what I was after. Then I washed it, dried it on cool and it shrunk a tiny bit. It fit a little better after that. It is so comfortable and soft and warm and nice-looking I decided to keep it after all. I'll be keeping an eye out for more I/O Merino garmets on sale. For those hesitant about wool--it is truly soft and never itchy. ( :
