I/O Bio Merino beefed up its beloved Contact fabric to bring you the Women’s Contact 2 Tight, a midweight mid-winter layering essential. As ever, the merino wool in the soft Contact 2 Tight breathes and wicks moisture during high-energy activities; when the temps plunge, you’ll appreciate its ability to trap heat in its fibers. Natural anti-odor properties make it ideal for not only sport, but allows it to venture into more refined company than your usual ski crew under a skirt or light pants.

Bottom Line: Substantial warmth.

I got the contact 2 tight and the contact 2 zip tight, and they are soft, toasty and excellent with moisture wicking. These being my first pair of wool long undies, I was expecting the fabric to be as thick as a midweight synthetic. Not so! They are light as a vintage t-shirt, but warm as the midweight.

As far as the bottoms go, the flatlock seams haven't chafed me, the lower rise is cute, and the waistband stays in place but is still forgiving. I went by the measurements in the size chart and they fit accordingly. not tight, just slim. I am an L(12/14) in most brands, but took an XL with these.

I have only had them for a week, so we'll see how they hold up over time.

Are these snug in the ankles? I just bought a pair of Patagonia's

Are these snug in the ankles? I just bought a pair of Patagonia's for my daughter and she is very slim, so they are baggy in the ankles.

Love 'em

This is a great base layer... I've been an icebreaker fan for years, and was wary about trying anything else, but I was having a fit problem. I am short and muscular (just over 5'3" about 115and wear a 2, 3 or a 5 depending on the brand). I have narrow hips but I dont have a small waist (think boy but with a butt!). I REALLY DISLIKE ANYTHING TIGHT AROUND MY WAIST! Women's ice breakers have a narrow elastic waistband that was really uncomfortable for my build, but I love IB quality so I wore them anyway... and they last and last... and last. But they finally started to wear and after reading many reviews, I decided to try the I/O Bio merino contact 2 tight.
The waist is plenty loose and I will order an XS next time, since these wont stay up on their own without a pair of jeans. That way I can use them as leggings.

I love em!
Pros
Wide, easy fitting elastic waistband
Very Soft wool feels good against skin
Very warm but thin enough to wear under tight jeans

CONS
I/O Bio name printed around the waistband looks HIDEOUS!
They are not quite as stretchy soft as the IBs, but the comfortable fit makes up for that.
Waist will likely be too loose for very slender women

Run a bit small..

I have other I/O Bio base layer tops and bottoms that I like very much. Easy to care for and keep me toasty warm in the Cascade Mountain winters. This item is just a bit small so I'm exchanging for a a larger size. Still gave a five star because the quality is great.
