This mountain has been staring proudly at me for a long time. Its striking south face has allowed for a few parties to pass over it and today I decided it was my day.

For the last 7 days we have had sunshine and the melt freeze cycle was well under way. We left the parking lot at 5:30 am and started hiking. A few hours later we were able to put our crampons on and we started to cut our way up and onto the south face. There was a perfect frozen crust over the top of the snow that made for great footsteps. By 10:30 am we had hit the 9338 ft peak.

We hung out for a little bit and waited for the face to warm up. It was nice to enjoy some relaxation on the top of Eagle peak. Around 11:30 we started down, carving some great turns down Show more...
