The Cloudcover Trench is great by itself, with just a single layer underneath, to about 50 degrees. If it is much below that, then layering makes it totally wearable to temperatures below 40. Also, because it uses Primaloft as insulation instead of down, it keeps the wearer warm if the jacket gets wet.

This is incredibly warm for the weight. I wore a tissue thin black dress and just this coat with boots in NYC in chilly April at night for dinner, wind completely blocked I was warm...my husband was the cold one for once.
