You are the master.

All-day riding in wet, sloppy snow or backcountry tours deep into coastal ranges call for the masterful weather protection of the Homeschool Men's Universe Jacket. The waterproof breathable Continuum 3.5-layer fabric and fully taped seams repel snow even when it's coming down in thick, wet clumps. Ride hard and get sweaty without feeling like you're slogging through a swampy nightmare when you open the underarm zip vents. Deployable wrist gaiters and adjustable gauntlet cuffs stop snow from getting up your sleeves, and a powder skirt with jacket-to-pants interface protects you from marauding snow invaders. Cocona Xcelerator tech interior fabric uses carbon-activated fibers that are printed into the lining to boost moisture management and stop odor-causing bacteria from doing their thing.

Very good armored shell

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

This is a very well built quality shell. It met all my expectations except 1. The zippers are beefy. They sometimes snag on the inner fabric but they are definitely quality zippers. The fit allows layering but is not baggy. My favorite part is the shell itself which is incredibly thick. Most fancy shells feel thin and wimpy to me these days. This thing is like armor. It is stiff and takes a while to break in. It definitely breathes. Its not warm but then its a shell so why would it be? Its waterproof. The pockets are all in the right spots and all big. The hand pockets are set far back which is a little strange. They are also very well protected with an extra flap of fabric and a magnetic closure system in case you forget to zip them up.
2 complaints. First, the neck gets a little bunchy. They need to provide more space for you to turn your head and move your neck when you have the zipper all the way up. Second, kind of the same issue. The hood DOES NOT fit over y Smith Variance helmet. This is a very annoying. This is a big selling point of this jacket and it only comes up maybe half way over my helmet. I bought a large and Im 6 ft 190. I think a medium may have fit but I decided to go bigger. So this makes it only more surprising that the hood does not cover my helmet. I never ride with a hood so i'm not returning it because of this but I could see this being a major issue for some people.
Overall a very well built tough shell with amazing technical attributes but a few fit/design issues.
