Don't be fooled by pants that offer top-level waterproofing—without equivalent breathability, it's like snowboarding in a drysuit. You'll be warm, but as soon as you start to sweat, your legs might as well be dangling into a soggy swamp, gators and all. Homeschool was sick of the BS, so they gave the Karpis Pant a Cocona Xcelerator membrane that's 20K waterproof but 25K breathable, so you stay dry from both sides, no matter the weather. Cocona? Yup, it incorporates charcoal from coconut-based fibers to create a bombproof barrier that tag-teams with 100% recycled polyester fabric, so you feel even better about your carbon footprint when you're hiking for your turns.

Even though the Karpis breathes like it's got a pair of lungs, the Homeschoolers hooked it up with inseam and ankle vents, just in case you need to jack up the cooling power to top-secret-security levels, and included fully-taped seams and a pant-to-jacket interface because snow, like a drunk coed, will try to sneak into your pants at every opportunity. The fit is engineered specifically to be functional and look stylish without being stupid (they're not costumes, Homeschool says), so size up or down if you're looking for a baggy or slim look—the adjustable waistband will stick with you no matter what.
