Layer on the comfort.
Base layers aren't just for warmth on winter rides. In fact the Hincapie Sportswear Powercore Flex Sleeveless Base Layer strikes a harmonious balance between your skin and your jersey, no matter what the season.
Sure, it's absolutely essential to have a lightweight layer of fabric against your skin on frigid mornings. Why? Well, because it'll wick away moisture, letting you retain body heat rather than shivering in sweat. But you've probably also seen footage of riders with their jerseys open and unfurled as they slave up climbs on the hottest July days of the Tour. At times, these warriors are shirtless, and in more recent years, this picture is competed with base layers. Even in the summer, the same principles applies as in winter — proper moisture management prevents your jersey from being overloaded with sweat.
This is important, because excess sweat impedes your skin's natural ability to regulate temperature. In other words, you're going to stay cooler in the heat with a base layer on. Hincapie's stretch PowerCore FlexTek fabric utilizes a recycled polyester, stretch fiber weave with hollow "cores" that deftly wick the moisture away from your skin. Staying dry is the key for keeping warm, or keeping cool — depending on whether you're layering with a jersey or a jacket. The fabric's natural, quick-drying nature effectively regulates your body temperature, as well as resisting odor.
This sleeveless layer features a close-to-skin, conforming fit with an elongated body. This way, you're able to keep the base layer tucked into your bibs or tights. Flatlock seams were also used throughout the construction in order to provide a closer fit next to the skin, as well as to ensure that you won't experience any chafing from exposed seams.
The Hincapie Sportswear Powercore Flex Sleeveless Base Layer is available in the color White and in six sizes from X-Small to XX-Large.
