Progress from the team.
It's safe to say that Big George acquired enough experience and knowledge during his professional saddle-time to perfect the classic cycling jersey. But, then again, that top would be an impeccable match to one person. Hincapie Sportswear's Devo Jersey, on the other hand, is shaped and designed with input from the Development Team.
This means it is optimized with input from the next generation of pros -- and intended for top-level competition. In fact, the Devo uses Hincapie's Velocity pattern, an aerodynamic-favoring philosophy with minimized seams and a next-to-skin fit. While this does result in a drag-reducing edge, it also enables the Devo's TourTek fabric to perform its wicking and supporting duties.
Constructed from an engineered polyester and Lycra knit, TourTek is soft against the skin and weighs a svelte 130 GSM (grams per square meter). For comparison sake, 180 GSM is about standard. The blend ensures the gentle feel and powerful wicking of polyester, while maintaining the supportive fit and aerodynamic edge of Lycra. TourTek, however, isn't the lone fabric creating the Devo.
Accelerator Mesh is employed where airflow can effectively keep you cool and aid in rapid moisture evaporation. These stretch mesh panels can be found under the arms and along the back where its malleable composition additionally aids in the fit and movement of the jersey. As for the cut of the jersey, Hincapie designed it for the aggressive racing-position the Development Team spends most of their time in.
Accordingly, the rear of the jersey is lengthened while the front hem resides a bit higher -- to eliminate bunching. After all, fabric bunching's not only a source of skin abrasion, it also disturbs airflow. Further assisting aerodynamics and fit is the sleeve-securing features of the Devo jersey.
The sleeves don't use any elastic at the openings, instead, Hincapie Sportswear opts to use wide Dimplex Lycra sleeve bands. The natural bi-elasticity of this Lycra offers a light compression to comfortably hold the Devo in place, and the fabric is dimpled. This design interrupts the airflow across the surface to further cheat drag.
Thanks to SunSmart built into the Devo it has a UPF 30+ rating. A full front zip allows easy on/off and allows you to dump heat if needed. Three back pockets complete the package. The Hincapie Sportswear Devo Jersey comes in white and sizes X-Small through XX-Large.
