The Highgear PulseWare Mini Heart Rate Monitor packs a heart-rate monitor, stopwatch, and a program to show how many calories you burn into a tiny package, providing all the data you need for a quality workout. Using PulseTouch technology, the Mini gives you ECG-accurate heart rate information with fingertip sensors. With readouts including percentage of max heart rate, average and max heart rate for workout, and resting heart rate, this watch also monitors calories and fat burned during each workout. The Mini also has target-zone alerts, so you know when you're training at optimum performance. A stopwatch times your run while an alarm and watch with dual time zones assures you're never late for your after-workout date.

Icy fingers

By:

I got this product to monitor myself while walking for exercise because I was overdoing it and wearing myself out and decided I needed some way to track how intense I was working out. I definitely like that it does not require you to wear a chest strap but the finger sensors do not always work correctly. When it is cold outside they often do not work or take a very long time to work. It says in the manual that it may work better if your fingertips are moist so I end up sometimes walking around licking my fingertips which does make it work better but then I look like an idiot. Overall it has some good features and is convenient.

Poor Quality Watch

The watch has problem after 4 months of purchase. It just died and have to be reset. My 12 buck Casino last 5 years w/o changing battery. Will never buy watch from this manufacturer.

Works just fine

The PulseWare Mini Heart Rate Monitor was a good choice for me because it's easy to use. If you're looking for a basic and easy-to-use monitor, this one is a good choice. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but it does give you your heart rate. I've been wearing it hiking and during spinning class.

Lasted all of 2 weeks and was never stellar to begin with

By:

Sent this back after 2 weeks because it stopped working. Several things that I was unhappy with when it was working: The pads to put your fingers on are on the side of the watch, not on the face, which makes it very awkward to do heart rate checks. You can check calories burned, but if you're in this mode and you do a heart rate check, it uses that reading to recalibrate resting heart rate. Even in pristine condition, the watch always took a few tries to get an accurate reading. I've discovered with its replacement (different manufacturer) that this was a defect in the watch, not the monitoring technology, because my new monitor works every time. Yes its cheap but spend a few extra bucks for something that actually works.

Highgear PulseWare Mini Heart Rate Monitor

I really like this watch and its functionality. I like that you can get your pulse without having to wear a chest strap, but I was really hoping it would measure your heart rate continuously instead of just when you press your fingers on the sensors.
Pulse is very accurate and I like that it displays % of target HR at the same time it displays the pulse. Overall, a very good buy and I am very satisfied!

unintuitive with fragile buttons

By:
October 4, 2006

Not the greatest heart rate watch vie had by a long shot. I fooled myself into assuming that it came with a strap (that is a separate purchase). The finger heart rate mechanism is inaccurate, takes too long, and fails too often. On top of that within 2 weeks of heavy use, a button got stuck inside. I tried to pick it out and the entire button came off. The price was cheap, so I suppose you get what you pay for.
