Description

Pray for snow with the toasty Heli’s.

Grab the Hestra Women’s Heli Mitt when you head to the slopes or jaunt around town. These babies keep your hands and fingers toasty while you play, pray, ski, or ride in the deep pow. A locking drawstring and gauntlet goes over your wrist to keep snow out. When you have the sniffles, use the non-chaffing mitts to wipe your nose instead of your jacket sleeve.

Warm and Durable

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

I got these as a gift for a friend and she LOVES them! Super warm and durable. The only thing is the white gloves get dirty really quick!! Clean them with some Nikwax and we'll be all set to go!

Measure up!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

I was worried about buying these for my sis as a gift, but the sizing chart is a big help! Seriously.. use that thing. Our hands are about the same size so I measure mine, and they fit her perfectly! She reported back and said they were super warm, a great fit, and she liked the liners. Win!

+1 this.
I also bought these as a gift. Measured her hands, used the chart, and they fit perfectly.

Take measurements and use the sizing chart, people!

So, I wear wrist guards for boarding. Without them I would probably order a small/ medium. Does anyone recommend that I size up to a large? I don't want to look like I have lobster claws.... Thanks!

Responded on

Whitney,

What type of wrist guards are you using / what size? If we can see what wrist guard your using and the profile / size of the product that'd help in our recommendations.

Also, just as an FYI, take a peak at the sizing chart as Hestra gloves do not go by Small, Mediums or Larges. They have a numbered sizing system which is far better.

I wear size small Dakine mitts. What is Hestra's equivalent size?

Responded on

Hey Ann,
Thanks for reaching out to us!
Hestra's sizing is going to be a little different from Dakine's, so it would be best to simply re-measure your hand to fit it to Hestra's sizing.

Thankfully, Hestra makes this nice and simple by including a printable guide in the size chart.
Just click on the link that says "Size?" and it will open up the size chart for you.

Please feel free to chat with us if you have any other questions!

Everything and more

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These mitts are just what I was looking for - easy on/off, incredibly warm, removable liner (easy to remove, too). Went skiing with a party of 12 - over half commented on the great wrist straps and wished for them on their gloves. The elastic wrist straps made it easy to work with bare hands and not lose a glove. My hands were always warm. They do run a wee bit small.

Put simply, my wife's hands are warm

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

There was always one ski day conversation I could depend on. I am happy to say, we now have time to talk about the fun stuff as she has been in love with these since she got them over the holidays. Tahoe has had some cold days and there still has not been that dependable old conversation.

Best Ever!

I have always had very cold hands and had never really been able to find anything to keep me warm. Finally I found these while teaching skiing in Breckenridge (AKA Breckenfridge) CO and they saved my life. Not only are they extremely warm but they have awesome wrist straps (very important as a kids' instructor who has to take off and put on mittens 1000 times a day) and the liner is removable and stays soft and warm after washing. After two seasons in CO I coached for a season in Maine and my now old mittens STILL kept me extremely warm. Two seasons later I think its finally time for a new pair but they were definitely worth the money and lasted an amazing amount of time.

Incredibly warm!

My hands get very cold for some reason. These did the trick and I was so thankful. Absolutely the warmest gloves I have ever had. If your hands are always cold, definitely go for these!

Amazing

Simply put, these mitts are amazing. I bought these for my wife who has always had cold hands. She loves them. We went skiing at Vail when the temps were in the single digits and her hands were sweating at times. This mitt also has very good dexterity for something this warm. They are a bit pricey, but well worth it in my opinion. If you always have cold hands, don't hesitate to pull the trigger on these. You won't regret it. Can't wait to get a pair for myself.

It's Warm!

My hands are usually cold when I ski, so I almost always wear mittens. Hestra Heli Mitt kept my hands toasty, without warmers, during a windy, chilly day (around 20F, felt like 14F). It kept me warm until lunch, before I used warmers for the rest of the day. Hestra Heli Mitts lived up to expectations.

In Love

This mitten is amazing. I've always been a sissy about cold hands when I ski, but these gloves do the job. Only one day this season have my fingers even been chilly and that was while a storm was blowing in. The wrist cuff is way handy...I can't imagine not having that feature now. My favorite glove EVER.

warm mitts

Great mittens for cold hands, most days. I feel the size runs a little small. Normally I would be a size 7, definitely a "medium" women's hand for most gloves and mittens, and I had to exchange my 7s for 8s, which are still snug (but right for not being overly bulky, I think). For the coldest days I still need something warmer.

Does anyone know whether these mitts are waterproof or not? I'm from WA and ski all over the PacNW n I definitely need some waterproofing...

Responded on

Hi kpencil,

The Women's Heli mitt's shell is made of windproof, waterproof and breathable HESTRA Triton/Polyamide.

If you're partial to Gore-Tex, I'd recommend checking out the Hestra XCR Mitt - it is very similar to the Heli Mitt in terms of fit and warmth; the main difference is the XCR has a Gore-Tex insert combined with the HESTRA Triton shell fabric. This waterproofing combination might give the XCR an edge over the Heli Mitt on the wettest days; however, for the majority of days on the hill, either of these mitts will be excellent.

Warm paws!

Love these mittens. My old gloves didn't do the job anymore, and was tired of frozen fingers. I spent 10 days skiing in Colorado this year testing out these gloves in all conditions. I absolutely love them and not once were my hands cold...even in below zero temps.

Truly a 5-Star Product

I bought these mittens for my daughter hoping she would find some relief from the suffering she experiences from her cold hands. She has had the problem since I can remember. This is especially tough because she was a ski racer for eight seasons and is now a weekend ski instructor and so is out in the cold and snow many hours a day. Through the years we tried different gloves and mittens and hand warmers, but these Hestras have done the trick. She hasn't complained at all. Quite the contrary, she comments on how warm her hands feel. I am extremely pleased with this purchase and so is she.

Mittens are the best

I really love these gloves. I have had many pairs of gloves, but none keep me warm. I just switched over from gloves to these mitts, and I will be sticking with mitts from now on. I have very small hands (Size 4.5 ring finger). People often joke that I have child-size hands, and I bought the size 6. They are perfect.

The fleece liners are removable and very soft. The gloves aren't really bulky, either. My hands get cold very easily, so on super-cold days I wear a pair of Smartwool liners.

The Best!

I can't believe how amazing these mittens are! I have raynaud's and have never had any gloves/mittens that actually kept my hands warm. I loved them so much that I bought a pair for my daughter and also bought some Hestra Heli three finger gloves for my parent's for their Christmas gift. The sizing chart was perfect, I measured 6.25 and got the size 8.

Well worth the money!

I bought these Hestra Heli Mitt for me (and the gloves version for my husband). We tried it on our latest ski trip in PA. Both are THE BEST pairs we've own (and we've own many over the years).

I skied day and night. Normally, my fingers would be cold after a short time regardless of the types/brands of gloves or mitts that I use. With the Hestra Heli, my fingers were toasty warm all day! I am very pleased with the purchase.

The quality of the mitt is also excellent. The soft thick removable lining makes for easy cleaning. The leather is also very soft. A small pack of leather conditioner is provided with the mitt.

The mitts are worth every penny. Shipping was also very FAST!

Perfect

I'm a guy. I bought these for my girlfriend for Christmas. Just want to get that out of the way.

She was really wanting some nice ski gloves because her hands would freeze all the time. In addition to that, she has Raynaud's Disease, which basically means her fingers are extremely susceptible to cold conditions. You can look it up on Wikipedia if you want. She really NEEDED some nice gloves, although she didn't realize exactly what a "nice" glove/mitten entailed until she used these for the first time.

We went skiing (day and night) on a really cold, snowy, windy day in NY a couple of weeks ago. When we were done, she said that this was the first time in her entire life that she's been skiing and her hands didn't get cold. Usually we have to stop at the lodge for 20 minutes every 2 hours so her hands can warm up, which we didn't do once. THAT is the difference a nice pair of mitts like these can make.

The liner on the inside is a very soft mitten (not separate fingers) that velcros into the shell of the glove. It is removable, so when you're done for the day, you can take out the liner to dry (if it's wet). The shell is an extremely lush leather (palm), and they include a packet of leather conditioner with the glove, presumably to be used every time the winter season ends.

Obviously, high marks from me for these. I also own a pair of Hestra gloves for myself, which are outstanding. Great company.
