Now you’re in the big time.

Hestra built the big-mountain Women’s Heli 3-Finger Glove out of Triton, its most hard-wearing fabric, to give you full patrol support as you rip huge lines, assault the trees, and drop cliffs like a psychotic lemming. A removable liner regulates temperature and Hestra’s Eagle Grip shape follows the form of your hand rather than the form of a stiff board. Handcuffs hold in heat and block snow, and Quallofil insulation keeps you warm when the thermometer goes into the negative.

    Still not the ones...

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

Bought these for my girlfriend because her hands turn to icicles almost instantaneously...all the time. Even with these gloves and another set on, she was still getting cold especially during night skiing or just simply walking the dog. The search will just have to continue...

    Best Gloves I've had

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I have pretty bad circulation in my hands but, these actually keep them warm and dry. They've been incredibly warm, durable and comfortable. I've had these for the past 3 years and they're still going strong. I love the elastic wrist strap also - it's not bulky and keeps me from always dropping my glove. Also, love the claw design

nice gloves, but not great for cold

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I was excited to get these gloves for skiing. They fit great but in cold weather, my fingers feel like they are going to fall off. I'm going to have to return them and find something more suitable for cold weather.

Still couldn't warm my wife's hands

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small

I bought these for my wife. She has horrible circulation in her hands and feet and after much research these looked like some warm gloves.

Her hands got cold skiing after about 3 hours into a 25F bluebird day. I was extremely disappointed in this. She had to use two hand warmers stuffed into the glove to stay warm. She told me her Swany Toaster glove was warmer and more comfortable for using hand warmers with the zipper pocket, but she liked these more with the extra over-skirt.

Sizing was slightly smaller than anticipated. She is probably a small-medium, and we ordered a 7. Was pretty snug on her.

Makes a great mitt for ice climbing

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

Wow, couldn't be happier with these. I use them mostly for ice climbing as a glove to wear when I'm not on route. I can even tie knots with them and yet they warm my hands up great. I even used them on my feet after taking a ride into an ice stream and soaking my boots!

    Almost perfect

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I've had mine for about 4-5 years. I love the functionality of the index finger. The handcuffs and cuff lock out pretty much all powder. Nothing gets through the cuffs once they are cinched! Well, not through the cuffs, that is. However....these are really NOT waterproof. I have treated them with the Hestra wax (which, by the way, will turn your pretty white leather palm yellowish/gray) to make them more waterproof. I also tried using extra Scotch Guard on the fabric portions. I still get complete soaking of my gloves on wet snow days. I did switch out my original liners for the 3 finger ones, which does keep my fingers warmer. (I have Raynaud's syndrome, so always have cold hands unless it's a spring skiing day.) I wish they made the Goretex version in the women's sizing an colors. I thought these would be my only gloves I'd keep for years. But after my most recent trip to Tahoe (it was kind of slushing out -- really wet heavy snow was falling and intermittently rain), they were pretty useless. They work great on drier days though. Guess I'm going to have to get the men's Goretex version...

    Toaster

These were obviously a gift, but I have the mens version and haven't had to deal with cold hands since I bought them! The mitt style keeps powder from getting trapped with your fingers, and the long gauntlet style keep your hands dry and toasty. They've also included a high quality wrist strap that is completely unnoticeable when riding, and keeps your gloves secure when you need to take them off for any reason.

Good glove but sizing is off.

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small

This is my wifes second pair and we did order up a size yet the golve was too narrow/small. Good quality, would like see they sized accordingly. My wifes hands are not large at all and the glove was way too narrow. If she went up another size the fingers would have been to long. Better to stick to the mens model and at a regualr size.

    Awesome Glove

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: Runs small

I bought these for my wife. Her hands stay toasty warm in Alta, Utah Feb/March weather conditions. As the other reviews stated, these run small so order one size up.

    Not just for skiing

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

I bought these to wear when I walk my dogs. Normally, my hands go numb from the cold very quickly (once temps go below 40 degrees). I have tried many styles of gloves. Finally! These Heli 3-Finger gloves keep my hands warm, but give me dexterity to deal with leashes, poo bags, and give me a better sense of having control of the dogs on our walks. My only complaint, and it's more of a preference, is regarding the liner portion for the three fingers. The middle, ring, and pinky finger liner is three individual finger slots, like a normal glove. I would prefer to have the liner for the three fingers be together like a mitten (like the shell) with freedom for the middle, ring, and pinky fingers within the liner. My preference only.

    Not just for skiing

    Solid glove

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

These gloves were really solid. I think I tested their limits by skiing in the single digits because my fingers did manage to get cold after a while. (I get cold easily tho) If you're planning to ski in these kind of conditions, I would be sure to have glove liners or hand warmers on stand by just in case. Otherwise, I loved the fact that the gloves hook around your wrists (so you can't drop them), and the separate pointer finger made it much easier to use my hands without taking the gloves off. I have fairly small hands, and I went with a size 7 -- I think I could have gotten away with an 8, but the 7 was fine.

    Awesome gloves and excellent service

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I ordered the size "recommended" by the Hestra charts, and they were too small to be comfortable (I guess my fingers are freakishly long). I had a super easy and incredibly helpful exchange experience, and my new (and perfectly fitting!) gloves arrived quickly.

These gloves are a HUGE step up from what I was wearing before. Some snow got in them when I took them off between runs, but the moisture wicks away from your hands very quickly and my hands were never cold (which is a revelation for me!). The leather is incredibly soft but seems durable, the plum color is gorgeous, and the 3-finger design is very user-friendly.

I think the only thing I would change about the gloves would be the "handcuffs". They're slightly elastic cuffs, but they are quite large around my wrists, both in width (running up my arm) and diameter (big around). I think I would like the fully adjustable, slide-the-bead-to-the-desired-location style better, and I haven't yet figured out how to modify the cuffs so that they suit me better.

Overall, fantastic gloves so far - I'll make sure to take really good care of this high-quality product by keeping up with the leather balm!

    Favorite pair of gloves

I bought this pair on the advice of a friend after my old pair of gloves were cracked and left my fingers cold. The 3 finger gloves are a great idea because I'm able to use my index finger to grab things but it keeps my fingers for the most part warm. I accidentally dropped some snow in the gloves and they dried out really quickly even with me wearing them, which was a huge plus.

      Great All-Round Glove

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Either I am a creature of habit or this is an awesome glove (probably a little bit of both considering I buy this glove every couple of years). I have heard complaints that the gloves are too warm, or that the leather is not very durable in wet conditions. For me, however, I use this seemingly powder glove everyday to fight raynauds and am vigilant about applying the leather protective oil to fight against wetness. I have been fortunate and not skied too many wet days where the gloves might soak through - if this is your future I would recommend the gor-tex version.

Besides the warmth, I keep coming back to these gloves because of the 3-finger dexterity. It functions like a glove, but I rarely have to remove it altogether with the freedom of the index finger. Overall, great glove for resort skiing!

      Really Happy!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have skied with old tattered gloves for the past 5 years, always had cold, wet hands. All my skier friends wear Hestra, I just couldn't get past the price but I'm so glad I finally gave in and got a pair and I'm glad I chose Backcountry.com, good price and reliable, I felt safe ordering from them! I love my new gloves, I like the wrist leash and the fact that the liners are removable and the soft leather is really nice when i wipe my nose!

      Mixed experiences

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought these mits for my girlfriend two seasons ago. She loved the look, the cuff and the wrist lanyards. Unfortunately the leather saturates with water easily and results in cold wet hands. I found this odd because I have the hestra heli gloves and have never had this issue. We both apply leather oil to the gloves regularly.

My wife just has cold hands!

To me the gloves look to be good quality, and backcountry.com has them for a great price. I was sorry to hear from my wife that they didn't keep her hands warm. For her these will be spring skiing gloves.

        Love These Gloves

These gloves fit snug true to size. I wear a women's 7 in gloves and these fit well. If you are in between, go for the larger size. These are perfect for mid 20's to mid 30's air temps. Might be a bit too warm above that. And I have "cold" hands. I have only worn them for 6 or 7 outings but they are still waterproof and the leather has been wearing well (I don't use these on a rope tow though) and still waterproof. Haven't worn them in a downpour. I have good dexterity. Love the handcuffs. I have the all white ones - I do wish they would make the palm leather in either black or dark grey.

I'm pretty sold on Hestra based on the reviews listed but need help deciding between the 3-Finger Glove and the Heli Mitt. Any advice?

          Best Answer

The 3-finger is the best of both worlds, offering better dexterity than a mitten, with a level of warmth and comfort that surpasses a glove. I have a pair of the Men's 3-fingers and absolutely love them. They take some getting used to, but having the ability to pick things up with your thumb and index finger, or grab items out of your pocket without having to take off a mitten makes a world of difference. I would definitely recommend the 3-finger, for sure!
