Dexterous mountaineering gloves designed to outlast the elements.

When you're tying two ropes together to for a long rappel into an alpine couloir or trying to equalize an anchor, the last thing you need to be worrying about is how cold your fingers are. Hestra designed the Ergo Grip Outdry Long Glove to keep your mitts warm in gnarly alpine conditions without sacrificing the dexterity you need to tie knots, fiddle with gear, and stay safe in places where mistakes could have serious consequences.

The Ergo Grip construction makes it easy to use your fingers without having to expose them to freezing temperatures. Combining the Flextron 4-way stretch shell and proofed army goat leather palm, the articulated design is pre-curved to fit your fingers and improve ease and range of movement, even when the weather's icy-cold. The palm is also reinforced with durable yet flexible kangaroo leather to stand up to the abuse the mountains dish out, and the whole shebang features a waterproof and breathable OutDry membrane that's bonded directly to the shell to reduce bulk without giving up any of its weather-resisting power. Snow and wind won't sneak up your sleeves, either, thanks to the wrist strap and drawstring gauntlet that seal the good stuff in and the bad stuff out.

    Solidly-constructed Glove

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a durable and carefully-made mountaineering glove that should last for a decade. Fit is great with longer fingers, and the glove allows dexterous movement, like tying a shoe. Sizing runs small. The wrist is unnecessarily tight and could reduce circulation.

    Nice gloves bad fit

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Seems like a good glove but fit was ridiculously too snug. Went with the guide. Love this guide glove.

    Swedish engineering at its finest

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I decided I needed to put out some real money and try a high performance glove after numerous disappointments. I'm glad I did. These gloves are exactly what I wanted, durable, good water resistance, and made for movement. I found the sizing chart to be accurate for me but if you plan on getting two layers underneath as hestra recommends for extreme cold go a size larger. they are a bit too tight with my fleece gloves inside and the lack of movement would equal cold fingers like the previous reviewer suggested. I'm going to be using them with just a thin arc'teryx liner in temps around -10F/-15F and am hoping for the best. If they don't work I won't I won't be able to revise my review because my fingers will have turned black and fallen off. Wish me luck!

Hey man those are killer gloves for sure . I have been an avid Hestra user for years . Was actually the first one to review these years back . But even with a heavy weight liner your never going to get the warmth from a glove that you would a mitt. I have used these in temps below -20 on a Winter night expedition on MT. Washington and my hands nearly froze solid in a matter of minutes w . Buy a pair of high end mitts bro as an insurance policy Once your fingers get seriously cold in gloves they will not warm up. Enjoy

    Too Tight !

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

The quality of the construction is clearly at the top of what's out there. I was very disappointed they didn't have an XXL. I'm 6'3" and 215 lbs. My hands and fingers are not thick. I can play decent Jazz piano ! I ordered the 11/XL. My hand measured exactly what the chart said it should be. Unless you show that you should be an 11, order one size up. If you show an 11, move on to another brand. With the wrist cinch wide open, I had to squeeze the hand to get past it and into the fingered part. Once there, The fingers are tight. I almost kept them because of the quality but realized that the constriction in the fingers would lead to cold digits quickly. Too bad.
