A warm and durable glove that’s ready for action in and out of the resort.

When you finish climbing an icy staircase, slip on the Hestra Army Leather Ascent Glove and prepare to drop into a steep powdery shot just outside the resort. Weather-resistant leather and Cordura stretch fabric keep the snow out when you dig pits to test for weak layers, and a removable wool liner locks in the warmth so you don’t freeze your fingers off at the summit.
  • The palm’s outturned seams provide comfort and an excellent grip so you can swing on pole-plants during the first few kick turns into the chute
  • Padded knuckles made of Cordura stretch fabric protect your hand when you use evergreens as slalom gates below the steeps
  • A hook-and-loop closure and neoprene cuff seal out the snow when it gets deep or when you have to dig down to find a lost ski
  • An elastic handcuff wraps around your wrist and acts as a leash so you don’t lose your glove while riding lifts or resting on a gusty summit
  • Earth-friendly Ecocuir leather uses chrome-free leather to ease the glove’s overall environmental impact

Was Great While It Lasted

Had them for a total of 2 seasons before the stitching started to show some wear and tear on seams and the left wrist strap coming apart at the seam. Pretty disappointed because they were the warmest and most water resistant gloves I have ever had. Also, once leather was nice and broken in, gripping my ski poles were super comfortable. Im hoping the Patrols will do a better job.

are they heated? need something that will keep my fingers warm

Responded on

No, the Hestra Army Leather Ascent glove is not heated. Columbia has heated gloves, so give a look to the Bugaglove Max Electric.

Nice Glove

Nice glove, warm and comfortable, but only lasts two seasons before the stitching comes undone.

Love these gloves. I have bad circulation, but had no problems with these gloves. If my hands started to feel a little cold (in -10deg C weather) just flexed my hands a couple of times and they were warm and toasty again.

What is the liner like on this glove? How difficult is it to pull of the main glove over the top of the liner if I need to do something fiddly and then put the main glove back on?

I think the liner for this glove is woven from only the finest Himalayan Yak testicle hair. Your hands will definitely be worm, but they may smell a little funny after long day of skiing.

Is the Hestra Ascent virtually the same as the Vertical Cut Freeride except the Ascent has a removable liner and lower profile knuckle padding?
Looks like it uses the warm liner from the Guide Glove?

Is this the warmest glove Hestra makes?

Responded on

I don't think there is a definite answer to your question. It all depends on what type of activity you will do. But yes, it is suppose to be ONE of their warmest gloves. The Hestra system is based on layers. read more on their website to know exactly what type of Glove you will need. You can for instance add another/different liner to make your glove warmer.
