The Heritage Kayaks FeatherLite 14 Deluxe Kayak has a long profile and a molded skeg that allow for serious cruising, while the large cockpit won't squish your legs or make you feel like you're about to tip over. The inside stores enough gear for a short overnight trip, while a small stern hatch holds snacks and a camera. A cushiony seat and knee pads keep your back, butt, and knees from complaining on your lake tours. Heritage Kayaks made the vented seat from environmentally friendly materials and coated it with a solar-screen fabric for durability.
Bottom Line: Paddling a barge-shaped boat might be stable, but you won't go far. Or fast. Hop into the Featherlite 14 and experience smooth, speedy cruising.

I have a Featherlite 14 and would like to add a rudder. Has anyone had success doing this. I need the added space at the hips and the weight capacity that I get from the Heritage and couldn't find anywhere else. I kayak mstly i lakes in PA and MA and for a week every year in Georgian Bay. That's where I need the rudder.

Dave, Just email or call Backcountry. Tell them you want to "special Order" a Featherlight 14 Rudder kit. Specify that the 14 you have is the solo or the tandem.

Great kayaks for the money, needed a durable kayak and yet perform well. This one does the trick, in fact I bought 3 for my family.
Backcountry delivered on time as promised and their staff was very professional during the sales and tracking time.
I highly receommend this kayak and Backcountry

Awesome kayak. I purchased two units. They are sturdy, durable and glide well. It took my 8 year old all of about 5 minutes to be successfully paddling around the lake. I've used much more expensive kayaks and this one ranks well with them.
The service and shippng of Backcountry is exceptional.
