Is this jacket waterproof or just on some parts? it only says the sleeves are in the description...

Responded on

The whole jacket has a waterproof rating of 5000 mm. Zipper on sleeve is waterproof too so you don't need to worry about water coming through the zipper.

Nice jacket, not as described

I just got this in the mail yesterday, and it's a nice jacket. Looks fine, seems sturdy, but when I went to check out the underarm zips, they just...weren't there. They don't exist. They're listed in the description, but aren't there.

I checked the name printed on the jacket against the invoice against the online descriptions. Same jacket, no zips. Bummer.

Besides that, the fabric seems breathable, the seams are sturdy and well made, and the jacket packed away into it's pocket quickly and easily. My measurements are solidly within the Large range, but I like things more fitted, so I went for Medium. I could have definitely gone for with small, but I can fit a fleece underneath comfortably with this one.

Awesome jacket!

I had been searching for a lightweight/rain jacket for quite some time, and I had narrowed my search down to a couple of different The North Face jackets and a Columbia one. I was close to purchasing a TNF jacket when I stumbled across a picture of this jacket in the pink/dark pink/grey (yes, it's dark pink instead of red, and it's dark grey instead of black). It was love at first sight. All of the other jackets I was considering were quite bland compared to how this one looked. I ordered it immediately and got next day shipping. This jacket is more beautiful in person than online! I wear a size 10 and the medium fit perfectly. The jacket is cut very feminine with a tapered waistline, and the sleeves are very long (which I actually love!) The length of the jacket is a little longer than some TNF jackets I tried as well, and I liked that it sat on top of my hips. The light pink section of the jacket has a subtle flower design on it that you can't see online, but I like it because it adds some femininity to it. The inner mesh lining is a hot pink color and I love it.

As far as rain protection, it's great. I wore this jacket for a weekend trip to Seattle where I walked around the city quite a bit, and of course it rained nearly the entire time. The jacket kept me nice and dry. There is a large inside pocket that was wonderful for storing necessary items, and the side pockets have zippers as well to protect from the rain. The hood is not weighed down like some TNF jackets I tried on, but it's not needed after you adjust the hood around your face. It's perfect. Also, the material has more of a matte finish instead of a slick one. I liked that a lot at first (because that made it not LOOK like a rain jacket), but it seems to attract lint and pet hair a little more than I'd like. I still love it though! Most beautiful jacket I've ever owned. I may get the white/lilac one as well. I just love the tri-color option!

Follow up: I actually decided to return this jackeet. I absolutely loved the colors and the fit, but the fact that it attracts lint and pet hair so bad drove me insane. It was too much work to lint roll the jacket before wearing it. I ended up just getting a different rain jacket with a slicker finish that wouldn't give me such hassles. :(
