With critical stretch panels, a host of rider-specific features, and the paramount protection of HellyTech XP waterproof breathable fabric, the Helly Hansen Stoneham Jacket is cocked and locked for wintersport assaults. Let the old man come with his worst, and hunker down behind the Stoneham’s fully taped construction, water-resistant zips, adjustable hood and zip-off storm skirt while you wait for an opening. When you can finally see your hand in front of your face, it’s time to flash your pass, pump your soundtrack, and mach from the tram to the traverse as fast as possible. Helly Hansen’s Flo2w venting system opens up to evacuate heat, so you can do it all over again sans the sweaty sauna effect.
Bottom Line: Stoneham must get some pretty brutal weather.
I just bought the new Stoneham Jacket at a store here in northern Norway where I live. It was 50% off, so it only cost me $350. Awesome jacket. The weather here in Norway is pretty brutal, but it keeps out the wind, snow, rain and cold. Keeps me toasty warm with only a wool undershirt underneath it. I also bought a down Bergen vest at the same time as the coat to use them as a combo, but unless the temp. drops to less than -10 C (the coldest I've tested it at), I don't think i ever will! You can have a look at it on their webpage here:
Hands down, the nicest jacket I have ever owned. Super light weight, yet has some insulation...it is not a true "shell." It seems to be warm enough to get away with wearing it with little underneath;a thin fleece or sweater would definitely suffice in 15 *F. The fit is rather baggy, I have a large, and I am 6 foot, 180 lbs. The hood is very nice, big enough to wear over a helmate. The thing that surprised me the most were the pockets. They are extremely warm, lined with a thick fleece...very awesome. Everything else on the jacket seems solid. I love the pockets (mesh goggle, mesh electronic, chest, pass, two hand warmer), and the zippers are very sturdy and easy to use. Despite the heavy price, I'd say this jacket is worth it, especially as the price falls below 300.

hey hey hey!...i think i found what you are looking for, HYH0382...copy paste/type that into search bar and hit enter...thats the Silverush jacket, its top of the line HH just like this one, and comes in the same black houndstooth plaid pattern, and even has simmilar plain black panels.
Wore my Stoneham on a moderately warm day in March (30 on the slopes) and it was just too hot. I had a longsleeve merino shirt and a tee over that. In the dead of Winter I suspect this will be extremely warm for you. (I'm stoked for January's return, anyone else?) It looks awesome as well. I picked it up in black and it's quite striking, visually. I'm 6'1" w/ 42" shoulders and I picked it up in an XL. Probably would have been fine in a L, but I like my coats baggy. Never know when you'll have to get a girl in there with you. I never know, anyway... Really... Tech on this Helly is awesome. Ever had to have your liftmates pull your pitzips because you couldn't reach the damned things? Yeah, not on this guy; they're mounted towards the front. Brilliant! The hand pockets are extremely warm and comfy. I think they lined them with kittens. Just a guess. The pass pocket on the sleeve could stand to have a bigger window. It's just barely wide enough to display my barcode for scanning, but only if you hold it "just so". I just take it out. Everything else is perfectly laid out, IMO. The muffler (? - whatever you end up with when you zip it up all the way and have up against your face) is very soft and it has... holes in it. Not sure how useful that will be, but I'll play along. Maybe I'll comment on that in a follow-up review next season. Also! It has a little spandex "powderskirt" in the sleeves, complete with thumbholes! This was a nice surprise. Again, too hot for me this time, but keeping snow out of your sleeves if you're rocking gloves without gauntlets is priceless. Super stoked to have this in my wardrobe and can't wait for it to come out next season.

Just got back from a week @ Snowbasin and was fully stoked on this jacket. Didn't face alot of inclimate weather, so I got away with wearing just a t-shirt underneath and was fine. Helly Hansen has a pretty cool style compared to alot of the other jackets out there, not too baggy and fairly clean. (I bouthg the black) I am 6' and weigh 185 lbs. and the large worked perfect. I was a little worried because I am always between a large and XL, but the large fit perfect with room to spare.
Has anyone used this jacket for skiing. I've seen pictues of it on other sites and I like the look of it and I like the wrist gaiters. Also is it baggy/tight and what size for 6'2 with a 40" chest? THANKS
I have been riding this jacket for a month now, and it is awesome for the Northern BC cold. The fit is loose, but not baggy, just enough to have room for layering and movement. I recommend the large, mostly for your height. Should fit good.
I bought this coat on tramdock for the UNBELIEVABLE price of $175 (shipping included). This coat looks awesome. It's not like every other North Face, Columbia, or Mountain Hardware coat that people have. It's a major step up, beads water unbelievably, I ran it under a sink and laughed. It snugs up well with gloves, helmet/hat, goggles, etc. The fit is nice. I'm 5'11" with a small (37" in chest and 30" waist). The pockets are lined with fleece, which is awesome for me because I wear it around a Chicago college campus, which is incredibly windy and cold at times, and the little bit of thinsulate is enough for most days. The writs gaiters are nice and comfortable. For the first week, I would consistently find myself saying, "I wish it had something that did this..." Ooh! what's this? And I was pleasantly surprised. It's got everything you need for a great day on the slopes, and it looks great around town (or campus in my case). My only issue is that I broke the hood drawstring within a week, but I'm getting that replaced.
