Modesty is underrated.
There seems to be two schools of of fashion when it comes to running — long shorts and short shorts. Although long shorts are "more modest," when you're a runner, why be modest? Show off your chiseled legs with the Helly Hansen Pace Training 2 Short. This training and racing short provides a soft polyester shell with a breathable Lifa mesh lining for support. It helps to wick moisture from your skin to keep you dry.

A good all-around short
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
These shorts definitely aren't a runner's "split" length short, which means you won't look too gooby when you walk down the street in them. At the same time, they are a great length for both working out in the gym and running on trails - they won't bunch up at the bottom and run up your legs, nor will they turn into a bikini brief-wedgie by five minutes in.
For me, they're a bit long for running racing, but for general purpose work, they're the ticket.
