For professionals and other people, too.

Technical alpine pants don't get more technical than the Helly Hansen Men's Odin Mountain Pant. Full-stretch HellyTech Professional construction ensures dryness and breathability for high-output pursuits.

These pants were field tested in extreme conditions from the Himalayas to the Antarctic Ocean, and you can tell when you take these suckers out to the tundra. The welded KEVLAR® kick panels protect the inner legs from crampons and ski edges. This pant has 3/4-Length YKK Aquaguard side zips, which provide emergency ventilation and snag-free dressing over boots. YKK Aquaguard zippers at the chest, hand, and thigh pockets, plus an Aquaguard zipper at the fly, make sure water stays on the outside.

    Fusion modular system???

    • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
    • Fit:True to size

I have the Odin Mountain Jacket and have been absolutely stoked with it... so I ordered these, which have just arrived.
They look solid enough, but the so called "Fusion modular system jacket to pant zip" to integrate them with the Jacket just straight up doesn't exist. Pretty disappointed, as this was a significant factor in choosing them. Otherwise they look solid enough, true to size and hope to be just as good as the jacket.

    Bad Warranty

I've always thought Helly Hansen was supposed to be a good brand. They seem to have a lot of product out there and that would lead me to believe that they would honor a warranty. I have a friend in Whitefish Montana who wore these pants one day and produced a tear. He contacted HH for warranty options and they wouldn't even take a look at them. Be wary with HH

      Paper Thin

      • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit:True to size

First day wearing these pants they tore in the back, not on a seam right in the upper left leg. I didn't hit a branch or snag them on anything that I noticed. The pant material is paper thin and has little to no rip stopping properties. With discount I paid $350 and they are not guide worthy or even tough in the least bit. The customer service line at Helly Hansen was unhelpful as well. They didn't request a photo or even consider helping out with any of the costs to ship to a repair company.

      Solid 4 Ski Mountaineering

Backcountry skiing and ski mountaineering is where I've seen these pants shine. They work fine for everyday ski resort skiing as well.

I've brought these on some of the most demanding trips I've been on including Alaska, Antarctica, and Patagonia. On trips like these, you need a pant that is going to be strong, dry, tough, and reliable. You can't have a pant break on these trips.

The main thing I've noticed about these is the toughness and dryness. I don't worry about getting wet and I don't worry about them getting torn up.

I've rubbed these against rock for hours and they took it well. I've been hiking in the rain in these for hours without getting wet.

It's great to have a pant like this you can rely on. That's what it's all about when going on a big trip: bringing gear you can rely and you can truly rely on this Odin pant.

      Go everywhere do anything pant.

Construction qwality is excellent. Diffrent form other Gore Tex pro pants I owned, this one seemed a little better protected from the elements. Extremely flexible and thin, comfortable, even though not insulated, some way it seemed more padded than other similar pants I owned. Used it all this season, good in either spring warmer days or winter colder days. Great buy!

      Cutting Edge Performance

I used to only know Helly Hansen for the LIFA base layers. I took a chance on this last year and I have to say it might be the best shell/pant combination out now, and I have had Arcteryx SV and Cloudveil, etc.. The Hellytech performs like a true hard shell but with stretch and the Odin pants can zip right into the powder skirt for really nasty weather. The size is true. When some European cuts are small in the chest, the Odin Large is a true 42. The bib is super stretchy so it isn't binding.

      • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I am an Alpine skier on the U.S. Ski Team and I used these pants during a training camp where I loved doing a warm up in them and then slipping them off over my boots (which they did easily) so I could trainin my speed suit. They were perfect to keep heat in, pelting snow and rain out (very waterproof), and allow me to move extensively in an on-snow warm up each morning. The fit is incredible, I wear a size medium 109cm hips and they don't pooch out in the waist. I'm very excited to zip back on the bib and ATV trek with them in the winter and spring! They are thin and very lightweight, you control how warm you'll stay with the zippers on either side of the pant. Picture shows how waterproof they really are.

      Ski mountaineering go-to

      • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

When spring time rolls around I am constantly using these pants for ski mountaineering. They're waterproof, durable and fit incredibly well for dealing with rope and harness (as seen in the picture of rapping into a couloir). This is a great choice for a serious ski mountaineers who need to be able to trust their gear.
