I work as a mountain guide year round and I am a Helly Hansen ambassador. These pants are one of the most versatile clothing pieces I have ever used. They are nicely fitted for climbing with crampons, and a trim enough design they are comfortable to use as a layering piece.
I wore a pair of these every day for 30 + days on an expedition to the Himalaya where I climbed first ascents ranging from ice and mixed climbs @ 14,000' to previously unclimbed peaks at 6,600 meters. At lower elevations the pants on their own were enough, higher up I would layer a waterproof and often puffy pant on top. The pant is also great for local adventures around Salt Lake. Its a perfect weight for ski tours, or other aerobic activities in winter. Also I spend the summer guiding in the North Cascades, this is generally the only pant I wear, until the rain or snow really starts coming down, then I will throw a waterproof pant over the top.

These pants are awesome! Skiing, ice climbing, mountaineering. They are light and stretchy, warm and breathable. They have a pretty tight fit, but the stretch in the fabric makes them super comfy. They also run really long which is great because I'm 6'6" They are pretty tight around the cuffs which is nice for when wearing crampons. And the instep patches, though really light are super burley. The internal gaiters have a great cinch system and little eyelets so you can tie a piece of cord under your boot so they stay in place.
