From the first chair of the season to the last run, the Helly Hansen Men’s Granite Cargo Pant battles the elements so you can get the most out of the mountain. Helly Tech XP fabric takes the sting out of cold, windy and wet weather, and extra insulation at the seat and knees help keep you warm on long lift rides.

  • Insulated seat and knees for extra warmth
  • Vents on leg for temperature regulation
  • Reinforced hem for durability

Bottom Line: Tough like granite, but a helluva a lot softer and warmner.

these pants are wicked. The black pants have a nice subtle weave/texture pattern to them. Unlike the Hayden pants, these do not really have any stretch to them. That said, despite lack of Recco and stretch of the Hayden, are better pants, as they are much lighter. They really seem like a versatile pant that you I primarily use inbounds, but have ventured out a few times back country.

These pants have what I would describe as a relaxed fit - although not quite 'jibber' as asked. Its a good compromise IMO, as I did not want an Arc'Teryx style fit, but neither a 686 fit.

I have a 34" waist with a 33-34" inseam and opted for the XL. The L fit as well, but was a slimmer fit, and I like my ski pants to have lots of room for movement. FYI the HH Atlas or Odin pants have a much slimmer fit.

Despite the description of thinsulate, there really is no insulation - there is obviously by the tag a thin layer, but you can't really even feel it. There is a mesh backer which really keeps the airflow going along with the standard crotch vents backed with mesh.

Overall Its a sweet pant, especially for the price, that will please for everything except perhaps the a dedicated backcountry skier. Only improvement I can think of is standard Recco and suspenders.
