Superior warmth for winter and superior venting for spring...an Enigma indeed.

With its sub-zero warmth retention, touring-friendly venting, and spring-storm-shedding protection, the Helly Hansen Enigma Jacket incorporates some of the most reliable and versatile technology available in a ski jacket. The waterproof breathable membrane, synthetic insulation, down insulation pods in key areas, and efficient venting channels all work together for temperature regulation from early winter to spring.

  • Tough four-way stretch shell with a highly waterproof breathable Helly Tech Professional membrane and fully taped seams ensures that no wet snow gets inside while you ski or ride
  • Synthetic PrimaLoft Infinity insulation ensures a steady amount of warmth retention
  • Flow Down technology features strategically placed down pods on the shoulders and chest for enhanced insulating power during the coldest January mornings
  • Regular fit enables comfortable layering up or down depending on the mountain weather forecast
  • Four-way stretch fabric works with the articulated arms and elbows to enable easy mobility
  • Flow System venting features two front core zips and two underarm zips to allow cool air in and to channel hot air out before you overheat during spring hikes or tours
  • Hood with tall collar fits over a helmet to protect against stormy weather and can be totally zipped off for sunny days on the mountain
  • Powder skirt stops the deep snow from creeping into your jacket from below and can also be removed when you're roaming around town
  • Wrist gaiters with hook-and-loop cuffs seal out snow to keep your sleeves dry and comfortable
  • External zippers feature water-resistant taping or storm flaps to prevent vulnerabilities on the wettest storm days
  • Two front hand pockets hold accessories as you ski, and a sleeve pass pocket holds your season pass card so you can breeze through the gates
  • Internal pockets secure other valuables or a cell phone where it won't freeze
  • RECCO Avalanche Rescue System may give you a better chance at being recovered inbounds

Bad design with enigmatic price

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

VERY heavy: much more heavier than 4 lb with a M size.
TOO warm: I must open all the vents in 30 degree in order not to sweat. I only had a base layer underneath, and did not wear a helmet.
Bad materials used inside: Just check the material used in all the pocket... They are like the material used in some cheap storing bags.
Bad design: The pocket in the back is vulnerable, and easily got ripped apart after I fell on some hard moguls.
Bad warranty: Limited warranty takes up to 6 weeks = warranty for next season. It turned out that the ripped pocket due to my falling was not covered by warranty.
I will never buy anything from HH again. This price can get a much better jacket from Arcteryx, and their warranty is much much better than HH, which only cares about marketing.
Do not buy a heavily insulated ski jacket like this; instead, go for a shell jacket and layer up.
The only reason for this product to get more than 1 star is that it looks good. Stylish design and good looking fabric, but NOTHING more.

Not good with a beard ...

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size

I really enjoy HH wear, which is why I purchased this top-of-the-line jacket. It just didn't work for me though. Very uncomfortable. I have a beard, but not a gnarly beard. The neck is just not conducive for those who have facial hair. When fully zipped, the neck narrows too much and is too tall causing a very restrictive head movement, again, especially those with a beard. My .02 cents.

Super Warm, Super Comfy, Super Durable

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This jacket is awesome. I've skied some of the coldest days in my life with nothing but this jacket and a long sleeve t underneath. It has put up with a ton of abuse from me in the mountains and handled all of it well. I've never been wet or cold in this and I love Flow system venting. Such a good idea. If you ski and want to stay dry I think you'll be happy with a jacket like this.
