HED Ardennes FR Wheelset - Clincher

Unlike many rims that go skinny to get fast, the Ardennes FR Wheels feature a 23mm wide rim. This allows the tire to seat better at the bead and also provides more tire contact with the ground. This means lower rolling resistance as well as extra security when taking a corner hard. It also means that your tire volume increases and therefore PSI is less for a more comfortable ride. This alloy rim is made of aluminum and scandium, which mimic the strength of titanium, without the price. It's also engineered to keep the weight low using a low spoke count, although this comes with a HED suggested rider weight of 225 pounds.

The hubs are HED’s own Super Sonics. With a 12mm front and 15mm rear axle, they use ABEC5 bearings. The widely spaced flanges provide stability and lateral stiffness. The front hub has a carbon-fiber tube with aluminum end caps. The rear is aluminum with exaggerated flanges and a grease port for easy maintenance. They include titanium skewers.
