The Head Monster iM 88 SW has a mid-fat magic that shines even brighter as super-fat planks just keep getting fatter. Adored in-house as a super-stable, true “Western all-mountain ski” the Monster iM 88 seems to be capable of anything, from carving arcs on icy groomers and busting crust, to floating out a pow day and thundering through crud on the day after. The secret is in the core: a thin sheet of malleable Liquidmetal, which provides beef for bashing apart uneven snow without fatiguing like solid metals. That, combined with Head’s energy-transferring Intelligence Technology, makes for a damp and powerful, yet light and nimble ride—kind of like a big mountain ski without the “big” feeling. At 175lbs, I ride the 175cm & it works like a champ in nearly all conditions with the exception of knee-deep (or deeper) pow. It is incredible in crud - that might be where it shines the most although it also likes to carve the groomed.
The monster likes to go fast & performs best when driven aggressively. This is not a backseater's ski.
The Monster 88 has been my everydal ski since 2005...

Flat out rips through everything. It's OK as a powder ski, but just annihilates crud, mank, groomers...
