Lightweight but exceptionally warm, the Haglöfs Chill Men's Hooded Down Jacket will keep you warm from the Arctic Circle to the streets of Stockholm, even if the day's a little bit drizzly. The Pertex Quantum face fabric is light but exceptionally tough, and it's been treated with a DWR coating to shed light moisture, which helps the Chill stay warm and lofty. In a stroke of genius, Haglöfs also insulated the shoulders with warm-even-if-it's-wet synthetic insulation, making the most exposed areas of the jacket the most weather resistant. Even with the extra insulation, the Chill weighs just over a pound and packs down into its own pocket for easy storage.
Versatility is one of Haglöfs' guiding principles, and it made sure the Chill works for pretty much any cold weather activity you can dream up--it's a solid belay jacket, works well for winter hiking, and can layer up under a shell or be worn on its own when you're skiing. The hand and chest pockets are easy to access if you're wearing a pack, and the adjustable hood fits over a climbing helmet without much trouble, so you don't have to suffer brain freeze to make moves in the alpine.
