Roctane Energy Gel - 6 Pack

GU took its original groundbreaking gel and added new performance-boosting ingredients to create Roctane Energy Gel. It starts with the ingredients you’ve come to expect—carbs for energy, electrolytes for replenishment, and caffeine to tap more power and diminish pain. What are new are higher levels of citrates and amino acids to slow muscle breakdown during training, reduce fatigue, and speed post-event recovery. If you are training or racing in multi-hour events or competing in multiple heats during a day, then Roctane is for you.

Bottom Line: Fuel like a pro.

Amazing!

I love the Roctane, but I am also addicted to caffeine. This stuff works. It's important to follow the directions and if you do, you will never bonk. Sometimes I think I could live off of this stuff. The Roctaine is definitely for the caffeine feen. If you don't drink a lot of coffee, you might get the jitters. Be careful, this is powerful stuff. And I must warn you about GU belly. It is important to drink tons of water while you are using Gu or the Gu will congeal in your stomach leaving you feeling a little sick.

I was given one when I ran the Pinhoti 100, and it made my eyes open wide..!! I'm not a big caffiene person so this stuff really gave me a nice burst of energy.

I love the Roctane, too, for the citrates and aminos, but I just cannot justify the price over the regular GU or the Clif Shots. And if you want a caffiene boost in your energy gel, try the new Chocolate Cheery Turbo Shot from Clif...100mg of caffiene! ZOOM!

Very helpful review. I was a bit concerned about the caffeine content, since I don't drink coffee very often, and you answered my question before I even had to ask it.

Ok, for a Gel

By:

I have tried just about all the gels available and most of them are ok but not great. These do taste better than the Clif Bar gels IMO. They give you the little extra go that you sometimes need. These are great for long endurance type activities.

Ouch! $$$!

I love the Roctane, too, for the citrates and aminos, but I just cannot justify the price over the regular GUs, the Hammer Gels, or the Clif Shots. I mean, none of them taste all that great, and all seem to do the job pretty well, so it really just comes down to personal preference.

The sale prices help, but the price is just crazy when compared to the regular GUs, the Clif Shots, and the Hammer gels. I have to take a one-star penalty for that. And if you want a caffiene boost in your energy gel, try the new Chocolate Cherry or Double Expresso Turbo Shot from Clif...100mg of caffiene!

GOod gel

Nice gel - Tastes pretty good - plus a little extra kick of caffeine for an extra boost. Carried me to my marathon PR last month, so no complaints on the results side.

Great for hikes!

I usually pack about 5 of these on hikes and camping trips for the times when I need some sugar/energy and don't feel like eating my lunch/dinner yet. I think they taste great too!

Roctane - really worked for me

By:
June 23, 2011

I wasn't sure if Roctane would be any better than regular GU, which I use all the time. Particularly since the price for Roctane is horrendous.

But I gotta say ... I started taking Roctane after mile 25 during the Squaw Peak 50. Took one roughly every hour, in place of regular GU.

I noticed an almost immediate difference in energy (and mood). Took effect in maybe 5 minutes. I am impressed. I didn't expect to notice anything major -- but the stuff really does work better.

Probably won't take it during the average training run (expensive plus I don't want to diminish the effect of caffeine by using it all the time - could be why it worked so well for me: I am not a caffeine junky; I rarely consume it). But Roctane is easily my new "go to" gel of choice for more extreme energy needs.

This stuff is the shiz. I use it before 'cross races, in the mountains, whatever, but it really works its magic when taken before a hard pitch or boulder problem. Seriously, it's the sending sauce. You'll hike the proj!
